So now you're saying that because I'm a freelancer I can't get fired and not be able to make money by writing and playing with toys? Well newsflash it just happened. I have been an independant contractor/freelancer for almost a year and this stupid thread cost me my job. I guess I should have just shut up from the get go and not tried to cover shit up, it is my fault, but I'm still mad. This sucks. I hope you are all very happy because I'm not, and I'll probably be thrown out of my apartment soon because he's not paying me my last check the fucking asshole.

whatever for what it's worth I am sorry for opening my mouth and for trying to cover this shit up. excuses aside it was a shithead thing to do. as far as impersonating the editor goes it started off harmless enough, who'd have thought it would end all messy.

I understand why you don't believe me, even though I came clean completely, you can believe me, or in this case choose not to. I am indeed an aggressive person, but I did say I'm sorry, several times, and I'll say it again because I mean it. As far as anything else goes, I've been a total ass, I know it, and there isn't much else to say about it. It's regretable that you don't believe me, but you are wrong, shitloads of people emailed the editor with links to the story and now there is a full blown investigation going on at work. He actually said "It could be one of four people, one of you will admit it by the end of the day, or you will all be fired". So it seems I'm not long for my job, you all got your wish because I have to go fess up now or people that are innocent will lose their jobs. I hope you are all satisfied.

Simply say so. I'll be glad to elaborate. I use the philip@ferreira.net email to reply to emails from various vendors when I ask for products to review. Duh, that way they don't question me. As a freelance writer PR people give me and others of us very little respect. When an Editor calls the PR people they SNAP to and get them anything they want and they OVERNIGHT it. It was just a little trick I did awhile ago without anyone knowing about it until now. It bit me in the ass a little bit over this, but it's not like he'll be able to tell who I am so I won't lose my job. Therefore I told you people what happened. That simple. Remember I do freelance writing so I review shit. Do you think I want to buy the crap I review? Hell no, I call companies and have them send it out to me. I wasn't having much luck with so I . I also used the email to trap spam (since it's already being spammed by companies for press releases and all kinds of other crap.

  17. Let's shed some light on a few assumptions here... on Slashback: Bass, Bomb, Deluxitude · · Score: 1

As it amuses me, and because I can, I'll shed some light on you so called detectives. Riddle me this... I'm a friend of Chris's, I also write for Reviewboard (as a freelancer, and while I have access to company resources I am not a 'real employee so keep this in mind).

I defended Chris because I am one of the people that answer the info and consumer@ mails at reviewboard, and as it happens to be I pretend I'm the editor regularly, because sometimes it's fitting and other times it's just easier for me.

Since none of you can narc on me because you don't know my real name, and there are several people that could possibly be the person so I will never get pinned down, I'll let you know this. Philip just got a small wind of what happened today and emailed Josh. If he even "knew" about what really happened, or read the thread (and he's a total windows user so ha the likelyhood of that happening is low) he'd be firing everyone left and right.

Bottom line is I acted like I was him to sound official and clean up at the end. Before that I acted like 'just the reader' because I could, and because I thought the review was good. I did get to be a big jerk, but I was mad too and I'm not good with anger. I did post an AC pretending to be him too, but rest assured that it was me and not Philip.

As far as Philip knows Josh got a shitty deal and I thought he was supposed to contact him and offer him some kind of compensation, but apparently Josh was an idiot and said no :p ahhaa he passed up on a nice gadget or toy for sure!

I would have taken it!! I mean you have to see it from my perspective, here it is my best friend posts up a review (he doesn't do it often, and usually it's for someone else) it goes up and I think it's pretty damn good. Some 'epinions' guy makes a bunch of statements on slashdot and emails consumer or info (i get the mail) so I field the mail and tell him he's full of shit, I know Chris and he'd never do something like that.

I make some "adjustments" so that it looks legit thinking in my mind it has to be a coincidence and this guy (the epinions guy Josh is a scammer). Then I FINALLY get ahold of Chris voice and he tells me he didn't write it he got it from the new freelancer (who is a MORON). Well now I have to eat crow because I was a complete asshole to Josh. He doesn't accept it, and by all my actions Reviewboard looks like shit.

You think I'm going to tell anyone at reviewboard I did that? HELL NO I'd get fired in a second and I'm makin a couple grand a month writing reviews about shit I love to play with.

So bottom line is Chris knows, and I know, and while Chris isn't talking to me about this anymore, he'll come around and everything will blow over. Josh on the other hand seems to be fine with it because everything was taken down (except the original on the development server that slashdot keeps pointing to people, which is a private non-public server they have no business pointing people to as it's on a damn cable modem and is a personal computer of one of the programmers, not some site thing).

Am I sorry for all this? Hell ya, I am big time sorry. Am I hoping no one will ever find out that can identify me? OH yeah, because I'll definitely be looking for a new job. As for the evidence that I'm philip no... try this on for size I've had an account on here forever, I don't want to get spammed so I bought a spam email at mailbank called ferreira.net and guess who is philip@ferreira.net (not the real one I can guaran-dam-tee it ahaha) and that is where the whole rumor started that I am philip. But I'm not, I'm me. Now my email is different I changed it to a new one, and no one will be able to tell from there either. Since mailbank is a pay for service I doubt they'll tell philip who owns it so bottom line is I'm safe in saying all this. I figured it's the least I could do (shed light on everything) since you guys still have shit not adding up, this should make it 2+2=4 for you. Have fun, and again I'm sorry about it, if I could take back the things I said I would, but I can't and being fairly immature as it is, what am I going to do? Grow 0ld, Grow up and die, like everyone else. You live and you learn. Now please cut the shit and end this.

Why on earth, would you have to define a privacy policy that was so complicated you needed input on it? I think what you should do is have a staff meeting. Talk about respect, and how it works both ways, talk about mutual respect for employees privacy (completely, and utterly) and for employees to have respect for their company by acting and behaving appropriately while they have this freedom. The world, and this country in particular is becoming a very over-regulated, here is our waiver, enter at your own risk, we're watching your every move kind of place and I think everyone in a position to make changes to alter that for the betterment of 'true' freedom, should use that position to initiate changes that will eventually lead to a better way of life. If we don't, it is going to seriously bite us in the rear, and I'm sure eventually, a large group of people will just say "That's enough" and all hell will break loose.
