Uh, No. Making the sale of video games to anyone under 21 a criminal offense? Maybe youth are impressionable, but we're definately not stupid. I'm probably a lot more mature about some of this stuff than some of my "peers", but if you really consider what is happening, it has nothing to do with the sale of the games AT ALL. In fact, we live in a damned society. You want to protect your kids from everything? Lock them up in a chamber 24/7 and hire a catholic teacher -- Hell, even the Bible could be considered "filth" if used in the wrong context.

When my gaming clan originally made the form for our join page, ICQ was required. However, once I went around checking what everybody had, ALL of the members already had AIM, while only 3 or 4 had ICQ. I'm not suprised. I've grown to like AIM more than ICQ, if only for it's quick messaging. I've customized it so it works for me, pretty much. The annoying sounds only ring when I first get a message, and I changed them to a random sound depending on my mood...

I think AIM's warning system is a pile of crap. In fact, BLOCK should be the ONLY option, and it should be taken effect immediately. As of right now, If you respond to a message and then block someone when they start warning you, they can still warn you to their full extent.. Wha? That's totally abused... Not to mention AOL's stupid system of allowing anyone to create any name at any time... All it asks for is differant email addresses. Hell, I have UNLIMITED email addresses. I could sit there all nite and create. There is no limit! Even if you use the SAME email, you can still do it 5 or so times before it asks you to change!

I don't know whether to be excited or scared. After AOL bought ICQ and Netscape, the world has been a scary place. Gah.

So you're a future programmer right out of college with your sparkly new Computer Sciences degree. You think to yourself, "Gee, I'll go work at Microsoft. I'll get great pay, and plus I might even meet Bill Gates!".

After 10 months of slaving at Microsoft, you realize that not only are you not getting paid for your 20 hours overtime, but instead of your promised cash Christmas bonus, you recieve two copies of MS Windows 3.11 with a note enclosed "Have fun and don't forget where it came from!".

When you come home and bitch at your girlfriend, you slack over the computer chair and nervously type in www.dice.com . You check out the recent C++ programmer rates and realize that you could work for $2,000 less a year just as long as you got 401K plans. You apply for your job, get accepted, and are living happily ever after until one day you get a call from Redmond, Washington.

"You signed this agreement when you started to work with us! Come back, or face our legal wraith, draining you of those 10 months of earnings, and we might even take your two copies of MS Windows 3.1!" - Well, you don't care much about your Microshit software, but you are suddenly faced with a delimna. Do you fight these convincted-monopolists in court, or do you return to the giant and be cast into eternal slave labor?

This is a classic example of Microsoft throwing its weight around. They know you need them, and while they have you on your knees and helpless, they bind you forever, making a deal with the devil. I look forward to the day that there is equality in the job marketplace. Until then, good luck.

  11. $100 for a book? on Vanity Press For Linux Geeks? · · Score: 2

I don't know about any of you guys and your oh-so-high-paying-jobs, but I very rarely spend over $20 on a book -- and those are usually the $50 bible sorts. For $100 I could all sorts of things.. Such as -

    - 1000 minutes anywhere in the U.S. with a cheap calling plan.
    - About 4 cases of Bawls.
    - A new processor to overclock.
    - A bribe for cmdrtaco.

All of these things I would like more than a book. Also, on the issue of electronic or paper binding -- I think you are asking for trouble if you read books on your computer monitor. I just can't do it. Looking at something that isn't backlit is a pleasant suprise, and I haven't seen the online-book market skyrocket recently.

Charging more for internet access based on files they transfer is rediculous. Do we really need a stronger call back to BBS's? We could interconnect them all, and call it the "Binternet". Just as democracy isn't a totally flawless belief, the internet won't be either.

Somebody should probably tell these people that it will never happen. It's already too late. What are they going to do, collapse the internet? I seriously doubt that, the internet is already too much of a big-money venture even with open source losses.

I'll be sure to drive something really really big, and crash right into your house, into your living room when your computer resides and I'll run over you and while your blood seeps out of your joints and veins, I'll jump down and tell you to clean it all up, because it happened on your turf.

What you don't seem to get is that for the most part, we all leave in the same place, and if you think YOU are free from harm just because you live in your security-enforced private neighborhood, you're wrong.

There should be a big wakeup of society as a whole, but I don't see it happening.

Since this is a film, you don't generally watch it unless you're interested in the subject manner... Therefore, those that have already known the truth will watch it. Those who haven't won't.

One time I set up a blank AOL account and told no-one the address.. The result? When I had returned, my box was filled with spam mail. I have no idea how it got there, since my email is supposed to be secret, but I think the quality of the provider has something to do with it. Blocking certain domain names, and erroneous combinations (and/or putting the blocked mail in a seperate folder for later checking) are good ways to prevent Spam, but it seems these guys will stop at nothing. AOL says they have an Anti-Spam program, but it doesn't seem to be doing much good when I forward MY messages -- I don't even get an autoreply. Much less a personalized message at the end.
