Sounds like you're confusing FrameMaker with PageMaker. Frame is the tech writer's app of choice! The power and control Frame gives you over text is tremendous, and the ability to quickly transform a doc into PDF is nice, too.
A lot of us are using Linux now; more will over time.
While I was never able to run the Frame beta on my Debian system, I am sorry to see it go.
