  1. Dogma is wrong. on How to Build a Fad Website: AmIHotOrNot · · Score: 1
The simple and inescapable fact is that the worship of the flesh is wrong

    *blink*

Excuse me? "Worship" of the flesh is "inescapable fact"?

I have a hard time believing this kind of dogmatic crap got modded up. Having beliefs is great, and I'm glad he feels passionate about it, (America despises real passion; it's seen as naive or even insane) but how can he presume to tell us about moral "fact" and actually have people mod this UP? Mod this shit down, -1 Troll. Pointing out that your belief system says that this is wrong is relevant (though banal); wholesale accusing everyone who disagrees with him of being "sinners," however, is trolling, not to mention just bullshit.

Besides, I just had a chat with Jesus yesterday over a beer, and he says porn is actually the new Christian sacrament, which is to be announced on his website, www.YouIdiotsGotMyMessageAllWrong.com on Monday!

Hey, nice troll, man! 138mb of memory, eh? You wouldn't happen to be taking the 6 or 7 threads it launches (each of which shows up as taking about 25 mb or so) and then adding them all up to come up with this number, would you? Because if so, you'd be wrong. Read up on Unix/Linux memory usage sometime - nautilus isn't taking 6x25Mb of memory - it's taking 25 megs, but each thread is displayed as using that same 25mb in "top".

  3. Re:The "Windows snapshot" is FUD... on Alan Cox on a Chip · · Score: 3
Well, BSODs aren't FUD for me; they're quite factual. I'm forced to dual boot b between Linux and Windows, and I have *never* had the Linux kernel die on me. I can't, however, say the same thing for the Win2k side of things. While it's light years beyond NT in terms of stability, it's still not the rock that Linux is and has been, at least for me.

As for Linux performing better when RAM craps out? I beg to differ! Check out BadRAM. (that's http://rick.vanrein.org/linux/badram/ for the goatsex-wary) While it won't prevent problems from crashing if some addresses go bad while the machine is booted, after the very next reboot, the RAM you have will be "good" all over again!

BadRAM was featured in a /. article a while back as well http://www.slashdot.org/articles/00/10/25/1448233. shtml

  4. To hell with practicality on Can Companies Control What You Say After You Leave? · · Score: 2

In the end, the world is not perfect people, and though many of you seem to have a sweet undergraduate notion of freedom of speech being absolute, in the real world it is often not practical. And there is no world more real than the world of industry

Why is idealism always seen as "undergraduate" or immature? What a disgusting notion that the world of business is the only truth, and that anyone who has beliefs that don't follow a "market uber alles" mentality must be a naive child. This is the kind of lie that saps our value as individuals, and turns us into "resources" instead of living, breathing creatures. I refuse to lower my standards for myself and others simply because most people can't see a purpose in life other than to make a buck and continue the line, both at *all* costs, above all else. This makes us little more than animals, and throws out all that makes our lives important and worth living.
