Our only problem is that we have way too many lazy, unmotivated people who just want stuff given to them.

People who want no capital gains tax? Ziiinnng!

Productivity is amazingly high in the US. Facts or GTFO.

I was not bashing the US, but I think it would be pretty deserved when I make a one line joke about small rodents not needing high speed internet and half the fucking country starts jumping down my throat, calling me a fascist, and quoting George fucking Washington! I get that the pun went over your head, but is calling someone an opossum really that big of an insult?!?! I thought the left was supposed to be sensitive, but apparently the tea baggers are as well.

This is not something you "do" or "decide" if you are the groom. The bride is going to do what the bride is going to do. The trick is to find a sane one. Not all women are irresponsible. Also, you can still have a really nice wedding for a reasonable amount. We spent ~5k. We also only invited close friends and family. By not inviting the people we don't like anyway, we had just as nice of a wedding as any of the 50k weddings I have been to.

Just got married last weekend. Kept things simple with close to zero stress. Saved 20 grand and everyone's sanity. Wife was easy going and chill about everything. Pro tip: if your bride-to-be is freaking the fuck out about flowers, food, or chairs, then she is a psychopath. Do not marry a psychopath! This should go without saying, but somehow it is become the norm. Marry a woman, not a spoiled child.

I think that people could reasonably argue that copyright should be sufficient for you though. Nobody should be able to copy your code, but reverse engineering an algorithm just does not seem like cheating to me. Either way, the courts have no reliable way of determining whether or not algorithms are novel and even less to determine whether or not they are trivial. The patent system seems to have been built for very specific types of engineering. Software engineering just is not like mechanical or chemical (which is precisely why many people get pissed when you call it "engineering" at all [those people can STFU already IMHO]). Things are fluid and like language, there are no hard and fast rules. You should not be able to patent an algorithm for the same reason Stephanie Meyers cannot patent lame vampire stories; it's just too hard to determine if someone is really infringing without going all the way down to copyright. Does Stephanie Meyers lose some business to people who came out with there own vamp romance novels about characters named Fella and Fedward? Idk maybe, but that is the collateral damage of a sane IP system.

Everyone else has a laptop because getting basic work done is easier on a PC. You really think your College math software is going to run on a tablet? Hell no, it won't even run on a mac and it barely runs on Windows, so you better be running Win7 or else. Ultrabooks could be taking over for a lot of users, but tablets are not going to take over the basic computing market anytime soon.
