Maybe if he had started with something else I would be able to upgrade my machine and not have to recompile the video driver for a point.point.point-point.point release. Linux is the only operating system in my network (Ubuntu, FreeBSD, OpenSolaris, Windows XP and Vista) that this is a problem for.
Since one of the main ideas is to put everything + kitchen sink drivers into the kernel that means that a patch to one of the 800 drivers that I don't need is a giant patch of the kernel. I'll wait a few extra seconds.
I understand your frustration but I was the victim of a Joe Job attack and systems like you describe just add to the pain of the victim. I feel that these types of responses are just as unwelcome as spam and I report them as such. Have you had any issues like this?
If Microsoft would open the protocol and/or the database there could be a way to implement this in other browsers too. Perhaps a web service. If they really think this is that big of a problem then a free service would convince me they're serious.
Andrew J 'Flip' Flipkowski was worth over a billion USD a couple of years ago. After sending out an impassioned email denying that he would ever sell Platinum to CA - he sold Platinum to CA. The sale netted him about US 1 billion. There are plenty of good jobs in the Chicago market - tell flip to stick it.
Don't submit any bugs to them though - it'll just end up in the "boring message" bucket. At least that's where anything that isn't linux related seems to go.
It's kinda funny that the Linux nazis (and now they are even Lintel nazis) have come full circle from M$FT and decided that their O/S is the best, and nothing else even exists.
This is funny. The people who support the O/S that has caused me more problems (upgrades from RedHat 6.1 to 7.0 failed on all machines I did it on) don't like something that saves time. When you kids leave your.edu world and actually start paying for anything you'll understand. Until then, please feel free to continue to spin your trikes around and around in a circle.
HTML 5 may not be approved by 2025 so they won't have to re-write it!
I can't RTFA if I don't accept cookies.

So I just gotta say - WTF - http://news.netcraft.com/archives/2008/02/27/extended_validation_certificates_and_xss_considered_harmful.html - EV and XSS considered harmful - so what does PayPal say to that? That even though they are using EV that we should ignore that?
Face it. As many others have said, if you go to http://www.paypal.emptymyaccount.com/ you're a moron.
Disclaimer - last used Apple product was a beige toaster.
More importantly, they will now have to support Java. I'm sure that they're loving that as it was one of the deciding factors in choosing HD-DVD.

Don't you people have jobs?
