Um, I've got a DC215 and 32MB memory card. However, I don't see how I'd automate it... And besides, it's snowing out, which means I probably won't be able to see it. Grr.:(
The local library, at my high school has CyberPatrol/Petrol installed. I have demonstrated to the librarians that, "Look, for some odd reason, I can go to godhatesfags.com, but not safersex.org. Why's that, oh responsible and caring librarian?" "I don't know. Ask the other librarian." (Nope, he doesn't know, either. "Gee, that shouldn't be like that. Oh well...")
First off, censorware is unconstitutional in public libraries. Second, it doesn't work, anyway. There is way more porn than can be supressed, while if a useful and relevant site gets blocked, you're pretty much screwed. Third, the censorware companies all have ties to evil organizations trying to impose their false morals on everyone else.
And much more... Censorware.org had a lot of good stuff, last time I checked.
You're problem is probably your switch or cables, as you mentioned. I have Netgear fa310tx's in different machines, one Windows, one Linux (Redhat 6.0), and both are always 100bt to my switch.
I absolutely hate the keyboard drawers/trays which slide out from under the desk. They make you sit too far away, your hands get stuck underneath....
However, the desk I'm using right now has what I feel is a really nice keyboard tray. It's like you cut a slightly deeper and longer than keyboard size chunk out of the desk, and put it on rails on each side, which let you adjust up and down.
This way, you can have the keyboard at whatever you feel is the proper height, while having the desk at a fixed height... very nice.
Also notice that the monitor is propped up on some Scitex training manual thingies... desks that have a monitor stand can't possibly be sized correctly for all the possible monitors it could have.
The short at the beginning... that's Luxo, which was done at Pixar, oh, many years ago. Probably around a decade.
Pixar has always produced shorts for the exploration of different techniques, and, of course, for fun.
I would suggest checking them out, if you can find them. There are quite a few. Luxo and Luxo Jr., Red (the Unicycle), a baby and a toy soldier, and Geri, are some of the characters involved.
...but, it's under the Disney name. I'll never give Disney credit for creating the stuff, and I hate Disney's guts, but they have their name attached to it, and people make that association. Whether or not they remember Pixar...:(
Actually, this person is actually absolutely correct. I know someone who works at Pixar... SGIs and Macs are standard, while Suns are also used for some rendering, and stuff.
Don't like The Fragile. But, heh, that's not your problem.
Two: I've found that Nirvana has helped me with math homework in the past, although I haven't tried any such experiment lately.
*Good* speakers at high volume are definitely nice. I love my Cambridge Soundworks.:D Headphones are a sucky substitute for various reasons, one being that they can get uncomfortable, which is quite an annoyance.
One hour of sleep. Shit...
Oh, and yeah, broad range of music: definitely. Just shows to go yah that "genre"s and classifications are bullshit. As are ratings, etc....
This is one of those few cases where I don't care about the underlying technology. Ug.... censorship is bad. "Censorship causes blindness. Read." Or something like that.
Actually, I may be interested in the technology, if it helps me circumvent and sabotage it. American Empire, here we come! Oh, wait....
Yeah, I have a Kensington, FOUR button Thinking Mouse. Works quite nice, thanks. (me, the typical Mac user: "Oh, gee, which button to push?!! There's too many! Oh gee...")
Apple does not need to bundle three button mice. Although two button mice would be appropriate, because contextual menus have come into everyday life for most Mac users.
Whether or not one button is good for you is irrelevant. Apple is aiming for maximum usability. I think that 2 buttons would help, but methinks that three would just confuse a lot of Mac users (the part of the population who uses them because they're easy).
I would say... go for it! As long as your willing to deal with having to compile almost everything for yourself, and you don't mind LinuxPPC's RedHatishness.
Oh, and they optimize it for Altivec.:D It may be a while, or never, before they do that. Of course, it would still be fast as hell, but Altivec would make it faster than hell. (Oh, would they have to modify GCC? Hmm. That could definitely be a problem...)
Still, it looks like a fucking righteous computer!
If Andover.net has acquired Slashdot, and now Freshmeat, what does this mean? I don't think that this is good. Being able to support a site is good, but I don't think that one company controlling all these sites can be good.
First, as some people already said, that stuff is easy to fake. But more importantly: there are plenty of distributed clients which don't have MACs or Intel IDs.
What good will a MAC do if a computer doesn't have Ethernet? What if it has multiple Ethernets? What if the MAC has been reused? (I think vendors have done this, even though they're not supposed to...) What if you're IP Masquerading through just one MAC? What if the Ethernet isn't the connection used to connect to the net? (Hmmm... I'm still using modems, how about you?)
As for the Intel IDs, this would apply to a small portion of the clients. What if someone doesn't have a BigBrother make CPU? I don't have any which do...
All of these considerations apply to me. I run clients through my personal proxy. Only one is Intel. I also have Macs, and a K6-3 Linux box. I have clients which don't have a MAC address... So, none of this would work for me, nor would I want it to. I mean, really... until everybody has the same computer and network connection...:)

Yeah, I remember Disco Inferno. Think I still have it on one of my Macs. That's one freaky-ass map, man. Glad I don't have epilepsy. :)

Check out these pictures, if you want to get a better idea: side view (134K) and top view (148K).

You are one dumb motherfucker.
Couple things.

Yeah, that would fucking bite...
"The application interface for encoding functions, provided by Microsoft for programmers, which sucked."
Dude, it said "which sucked", from a translation! That's so cool.

Dammit, consolidation is bad! Erm...

(Why? Well, no reason not to, another excuse to leave it running constantly, and best machine around to do it. (Have no running 4 or 386s, anyway.))
Heh, why not?
