I got my nice new Ibook G4 12" in October, right after they came out. Everything was great, for a couple of weeks, then it started getting funky. Anytime i would wake the computer, it would make this weird static sound at full volume and then slowly dissolve into silence. Then the week after that, on top of static noise, the speakers started to feedback with the built in microphone. This was not very pleasent. So i took it to the apple store and the girl checked it out. She came back 5 minutes later with a brand new ibook and a firewire cable. She transfered all my files to the new iBook and i was out of there in 20 minutes, new ibook in hand. The best part is that my warranty now ends a year from when i got the new Ibook! It was so painless and quick and i didn't need to call customer support based in India. Anyone else have that weird sound issue?
I just received my drive on thursday, direct from sony (which only took one day from sony's warehouse). It seems to be a fairly solid drive and i haven't had a bad burn yet. However i can tell you why i am so lucky and other people have had coasters... According to something i read on sony's website, they are really only supporting media from TDK and SONY. I happen to be using TDK DVD-R's so it works out for me. So only the expensive media fully works with this drive.
Well basically what it comes down to is: Work sucks, corporations are evil, invent something on your own time... or sit home a play video games all day. Is it fair that corporations have the unrescricted rights on your brain while you are an employee? I think not, but governments favor corporations instead of people, so what do i know.
In LA, they have cell phone towers than look like palm trees. They have a very good job with them, too. You really have to stare at them for a while to notice. They are the most noticable on the 405 when you're stuck in traffic.
i bought the phillips Expanium MP3-CD player...
It has a 60 sec skip protection for normal CD's and for mp3 cd's it's 180 sec or something like that... the thing is bascially unskippable, it's awesome...
but for mp3 cd's it does take about 2 minutes to start the disc up... oh well, i deal with it..

Ok, so besides all of the comments that have been made already about this new service, I just went and tried it out for myself.
Now I have had a my.mp3 for some time now and i have found that from the 15 or so albums that i have uploaded, only two of them appear there now... "What the fuck!!", I said.
I searched to find the answer... this is what i found from their FAQ
"While MP3.com has been successful in turning on many titles in My.MP3 user accounts, certain CDs are still unavailable. MP3.com has elected to remove these CDs from My.MP3 pending further negotiations. Stay tuned to the latest news about access to your music by visiting progress.mp3.com. "
And you know what sucks even more? Upon opening the two albums i have stored online, not all of the tracks are available on the CDs, only 3 or 4 tracks...
What is the fucking point now!
