  1. Re:Double taxing on The Inevitable Internet Sales Tax? · · Score: 1

One problem I see with a high country wide sales tax is getting depressed with high prices. Even though it may come out to be the same in the end income taxes only depress you once a year (or quartly) instead of getting depressed by paying a high tax whenever I went to buy something.

Guess you guys missed the fact that the Republican party then was a completely different political party than the Republicans of today.

Everyone seems to agree that evanescent waves currently can't carry information. But who says they need to carry the information. If a wave is transmitted it is a 1 if there is no wave it is a zero. Now you have a binary code that can be transmitted faster than the speed of light. To me thats sounds like something usefull.

It isn't always your CPU speed that matters. I also have a k6-2 450 and q3 rules on it. I also have 155 megs of ram an 8 meg SIS 530 AGP video card for my main card and a Diamond Monster II 3d 12 meg (which isn't even all that great of a card)
And most every game I have tried on it ran great.

Just wondering how much ram and what 3d card you have.

You didn't buy yours from Mr. Smiley on Ebay did you :) (sorry I had to)

  6. Re:Not invulnerable. on Project Grizzly · · Score: 1

I saw this one on National Geographic. The guy basically wants to go into a grizzly den, and take some blood samples while the bear is hibernating.

The two main problems I see with this are.

1 - He has no mobility whatsoever in that suit. He can hardly walk, and forget about standing up after falling down. If the bear moves while he is in there, he will be trapped. Even if the bear doesn't move, there is a very good chance that he will be trapped.

If you read the article you would have seen the fact that he has no plans to go inside the den. He plans on the bear comming out of the den and darting the bear. The suit is just there to keep him alive for the 3-5 minutes it takes for the bear to be affected by the tranquliser(?spelling) dart. While the bear is out of the den his team will come in and do the plasma extraction and install cameras in the den.

  7. Re:MacOS IS easy to Install on Interview with Alan Cox · · Score: 1

I haven't ever installed MacOS but one of the reasons that linux is "harder to install" than linux is the fact that it gives you many more choices on what you want to install, how you want it installed, and where you want it installed. If all of that was taken away sure it would be easy to just pop in the CD and watch it install. But then what is the point you then have just another OS that is setup in a fixed way. With linux as it is now I don't think of it as harder but that it requires more knowledge. You have to know what you want, then because of the was it is setup you can take those options and have an OS setup just the way you want it.

    Not harder smarter.
