    The AC is right. Comment counts used to be the high hundreds, commonly over 1000. I've been reading this site for around 10 years, commenting for a couple, and the readership has defiantly fallen. No one I know follows Slashdot other than myself, and I'm checking it less and less.

    It does exist and has for some time. There was a test a few years where they transmitted wireless energy from one Hawaiian island to another. It just terribly inefficient.

    I can drive up the road and buy a tank of H2 in just a few mins. Trucks refill liquid propane for houses around here all the time as as there is no natural gas service. H2 wouldn't have to that different. Much better than the few hours it would take for a portable battery pack of generator to charge a battery.

    They don't care about the islands, they care about the water around them. They are abundant in fish and oil/natural gas.

  6. Everyone pays taxes, income or not. Buy something? Sales tax. Pay utility bills? Taxed. Buy gas? Taxed.

    You could potentially refill the H2 on the side of the road, just like gasoline. Not so with a battery

    Eh, maybe. The Slashdot user base had really dropped over the last few years and few influential tech people hang here anymore. I don't really see us as a worthy demographic for paid shills.

    There might be a few, but it's nothing like it was in even 5 years ago.

    I live with my girlfriend. She is a professional musician so she spends 1/2 her day practicing. That probably pushed me towards things I can do solo.

    I have friends, we meet up most weekends at the bar or to go camping/hiking.

    I did that for a while, the I gave up video games too. Now I don't watch movies, tv or play video games. Started reading and woodworking. Feels pretty good.
