I have six CFLs in my bone-dry, unfinished basement. They are all in open porcelain sockets and they last, at best, six months. I've tried different brands, cheap and expensive, it doesn't matter.
My best guess is that the voltage is killing them. They are rated for 120v and my outlets measure at ~127v.
$5/bulb is the tipping point for me. That was when I switched to CFLs. I don't need or want gimmicks like wifi and color changing, just a low-price, warm colored bulb.
The hump is there to run the exhaust and to hold the catalytic converter/muffler/etc. It's above floor pan level to protect it.
I one cracked a head because I crushed a catalytic converter when going over a speed bump (hanger broke and the exhaust was sagging). Engine overheated on the exhaust side and the temp gauge never raised.
That's a good point. My car currently looks like it's covered with dirty white sand and it's get covered with snow when I drive. My backup camera is useless unless I clean it every time.
Agreed. I'm still waiting for 500gb+ drives to drop below $0.50/gb, without a mail-in rebate. I only use laptops, so adding additional drives isn't an option.
I'm using a tablet at the moment and just realized that I haven't opened my laptop in over a week. I have a desktop too, but it hadn't been powered on since September.
I used to be like that, not anymore. For those I know, they never wanted a new shiny computer, they just bought new because their old one was too slow/buggy and they were seriously pissed about having to buy a new one.
The PC market matured a few years ago and now it's boring. I'm fine with that.
Android and, well, the entire mobile market, is innovative as the game boy color. Wow, a bigger screen, and faster too! How did you come up with such innovative ideas?
Last year when a major snowstorm that knocked out power for over a week (12 days to be exact), cell service was out after a day, but landlines stayed on the entire time.
I pay mine. $40/month for 1.5mbit.
If you want food, grow it yourself.
Sports are entertainment. Murder, not usually.
The fact that none has makes your speculation as bad the author of this article.
Sports have existed as long as society has. Don't expect them to disappear any time soon.

Electricity is cheap here.
The bulb is usually coated in plastic as well. I use a few in my garage and wood shop.
If you are referring to the USA, we know we are being watched. It's in the news every day.

This would fall under easement laws, not eminent domain.
Getting close. Once they hit $0.49, or lower, then I'll bite.

Then we are right back to where we currently are.
When you have a 100% chance of dying without a procedure vs a 90% chance with, then yes, I'll be the first.
No one I know uses their computer to listen to music anymore. It's always on their phone or tablet.

Naa. Computers are an appliance for most people. I don't buy a new blender because mine is old. It's the same with computers.
And hardware sales are down. Sounds like what everyone else is saying, that current hardware is good enough and they have no reason to update.
To make them obsolete you have to convince the consumer they need a new one and there is nothing in the pipeline to do that.

They still pay sales tax.
