I started out writing Autolisp programs for AutoCAD, 25 yrs ago. Used several other languages since then. I still like Lisp a lot. Always makes me laugh when script kiddies whine about parentheses. Boo-hoo-hoo, Johnny. I didn't even have a computer when I started. It was pad and pencil all the way. Back in the day, I walked 10 miles to school, knee deep in parentheses. Those suckers hurt like hell, but look at me now.
Stack ranking is for managers who are not grown-ups.
Train your people. Teach them to improve. Defend them while they learn. Make them better and they will make the company better.
If you are in charge and something goes wrong, it's your responsibility. It's your fault. And if it isn't your fault, it's still your fault because you're the manager.
You are responsible. 100% of the time. No exceptions.
Take responsibility for your job and do your job. Train your people. Take care of your people. Grow up.
A room full of leaders means never getting to consensus, analysis paralysis, and an agreement to have another meeting...
tl,dr: The good ideas won't be heard.
(some provinces have better care(those with more money)
(aka income tax and GST--nationwide sales tax)
(aka territories, or natives, or military, the federal government shall provide said care.
Please balance your parentheses. It's driving me crazy.

I usually include bugfixes for 30 or 60 days. How do you price service contracts? Is it the usual dev rate * number-of-hours-covered-service-per-month? What is typical for a service contract on your dev work?

Maybe Visual Lisp will be next... oh, wait: http://autode.sk/1PsAwTO
And still balance your life. Don't work constantly. There is much more to life than work. Best to discover this while you're young enough to enjoy it.
I'd give you my mod points if I had any. Cheers to Notch for not selling out.

Well said. Wish I still had mod points for this.

When I lived in AZ I saw it too. A lot. Damned annoying.
This. And the attitude of "any %^(@#& can write documentation".
Sounds like you're describing a Lisp developer.
