I was homeschooled from 8th grade all the way through high school.
The effects of homeschooling largely depend on your parents.
A good deal of homeschoolers are independant learners and their parents realize this. So learning in an isolated environment is benificial. Isolated learning environments are also helpful for kids with ADD. No distractions.
Socialization is a problem with some. You automatically don't have school as a common bond with other kids your age and you are outcasted from extra-cirricular activities.
Besides, social skills arn't exactly taught in public school. You adapt to other teenagers, and usually only teenagers in a certain clique. I doubt the social skills you learn in high school are that valuable later on in life.
Tell people to put a passphrase in the body of the message and filter out everything that doesn't have that passphrase. If your expecting mail from a machine for verification or something, quickly filter them in for a second (by company name, or address or whatever).
This works great for my hotmail account, and people don't seem to mind typing in a quick password.
Its much easier to filter the good stuff in than the bad stuff out.
