So what's your company? I want to send some.pl files your way... or was it.class?
In a few years, there'll be another company attempting a Transmeta-style hype campaign, and I hope that when that day comes, we can all remember how this played out.
Wouldn't it be better to wait for it to actually play out before we start playing "Taps"?
Sure, they've got some big challenges and I won't be rushing to buy their stock anytime soon, but burying them at this point is just as much FUD as the pre-launch hype.
Looking at these units at Crutchfield points up one other issue I've not seen mentioned: they can't use your current antenna.
So in addition to the expense, you have the issue of dealing with a magnetic roof-mount antenna or gluing one to the inside of your windows. Further impediment to aftermarket sales.
But the award was for the fourth, which is interesting -- the books in the series get progressively more complex, and much darker. There's a lot more death and unfairness in the world, etc. I think it's not an accident that they chose the fourth for the award....
It's certainly true that the forth book is the darkest, however it's also the longest and most tedious. I get the feeling that the author's popularity makes her stuff "hand's off" to editors. And she needs one. That book should have been trimmed by about 40%. Way longer than it should have been. In many ways the worst book of the series. The ideas are getting better but the writing is getting worse.
>Quality assurance at Microsoft is better than this when it comes to other areas.
Oh? A coworker and I used to do consulting as QA engineers for MS. He was QA'ing some release of ODBC. He's very good at what he does and very meticulous. As the scheduled release target approached, they told him to "stop finding so many bugs" because they were afraid it would impact their ship date.
That about says all you need to know about MS QA.
I've received at least 4 Netflix spams in the past week...

But not long enough to learn how to spell the name of the city, apparently.

Will you then be plugging a Maxtor into your AGP slot?
I've often wished I had the guts to take the same action as Donald Knuth and get rid of my e-mail address:
Of course, I'll be the first to admit that DEK's time is more in demand than mine.

Sorry, but I found the entire Quidditch Tournament section to be way too long and quite boring. It added essentially nothing to the plot.
