I remember hearing somewhere that the Dr. Who series (well, at least some of its incarnations) were so budget-limited that they would always start a given season, relatively cash-flush, with elaborate sets, costumes, and props, but by the end of the season they were reduced to using such vaunted techniques as silver paint on household items.

See, the thing that keeps me with Eudora is that it allows me to edit messages that I've received. I know that everyone has their darling features, but for me, I like - no *need* - to be able to edit/cut/rewrap the text of messages I've received. I'm that anal. All I have to do is click on the little pencil button and I can do whatever I want.

Is there a similar feature in mail.app that will allow me to do this basic thing? Not that I've found. Beh. (Otherwise it's a nice-looking app.)

I worked for Worlds from 95-97, mainly as an artist on the WorldsChat project (long live the penguin avatar!). All hands except for a skeleton crew were laid off in '97. The Worlds that exists today is indeed the same company, albeit evolved into something quite different. There was a tremendous amount of excitement about online chat back then, but then the same thing happened with 3D chat companies that happened with the .coms a few years after.

My question requires that I name a spoiler to ask it. So...

    > ...the ending neatly tied the whole thing together...

Okay, I think I disagree. As much as I liked the movie, isn't the fact that
he intentionally misremembered the insulin story a deus ex machina? The fact that it's presented to the audience as fact is a narrative flaw, even if this mental construction was done out of shock.
I've been known to miss a detail, so don't flame me. I want the story to work! But don't pull a "oh, by the way, this one part we made up" at the last second. That's a cheat. It's inconsistent. The rest wasn't a cheat, which is why that detail stands out.

  6. Just a rumor: There is no suit on Sony to Sue Connectix · · Score: 1

As of today you shouldn't be talking about this as if it's a done deal. If you read the IGN page you'll see that they say, "Off the Record is IGNPSX's weekly outlet for gossip, rumors, and words on the street. The following is just that: rumor." A quick scan of Reuters will reveal that nothing of this nature has been reported as yet. I've heard (and this is my rumor, IGN, from one of the VGS demonstrators on the MWSF floor), that Connectix DID secure permission from Sony. (Maybe that was off the record, mm?) Besides, it's been reported that since Sony makes money on only the games (and not the PSX hardware, with which they lose money) the VGS would be a welcomed item. For now though we can only speculate.
