Nice 2-party thinking there, but if he signed the bill, he supports it. Saying "wah wah, I wanted to cooperate with the enemy so i could get something done instead of nothing" is not an excuse. But of course, the cult of personality that worships Obama (I voted for Nader!) thinks that somehow he is something different from past presidents. He's not. The democrats have done nothing to improve society; they just don't erode it as fast as the republicans. If that's what YOU want, I'm gonna buy a gun for the inevitable future that people like you, who think cooperating with the enemy is the answer, will bring us: a future of violent revolution, because cooperating and forming coalitions with the enemy doesn't fix things. It just brings things more to the center. Centrist politics have done JACK SHIT for our country in the past 20 years.
It depends. For the most part I think you're wrong. Tiny tvs, yes. But if you're going from a max-sized (36-inch) CRT to a larger LCD... You'd be a fucking retard NOT to get it. When your screen gets 40% (arbitrary number) bigger and you're sitting equally far away as you would from your old tv - you need 40% quality increase just to maintain the same experince. 720p on a 52-inch HDTV with 1920x1080 looks frickin' good. DVD on a 36-inch CRT looks about as good as you need for that size, and for that inferior display technology. A BluRay on a 36-inch CRT isn't going to look any better than a DVD.
But if you get a device that is capable of displaying better -- and the device is bigger than what you've had before -- Yes, you definitely need HD. And you will also realize how worthless buying DVDs are, when what airs on HDTV has twice the pixels (720p = 2.25X DVD, 1080p = 6X dvd). The longer you wait, the more you're hurting yourself in the long run. And granted I still watch a lot of SDTV, but that's animation. Curb Your Enthusiasm was the ONLY live action show in the past year i've seen in SDTV only, and on a big 52-inch TV with greater pixel depth, it looked as bad as a VHS does on a normal tv.
An extra $1000? Yes. But you act like the $1000 only buys the SDTV->HDTV different. It doesn't. The extra $1000 buys a huge TV.
California is a strange place. As in, it's not necessarily where one would look for an example of how something is *normally* done. They often have their own way of doing things. Except movies:)
yea. thanks. hadn't noticed the moderation. if anything i felt i was the one who had been baited and was responding to someone else's flamebait with a valid (to the thread, not necessarily to the slashdot article) point...
Virginia, inside the D.C. beltway. It's getting harder and harder to find the ones to choose for. They've blocked that information now by making it's release only available to those who signup for spam. Broadband reports stopped carrying it now. I'm not sure how you find out what the market is anymore.
Of course, if I called the phone company or asked anyone who lived around me, anywhere, they would have said exactly what you said.
Your ISP doesn't even have to be on the same coast as you.
Look around. If you're lucky, you may be surprised.
I believe I got my money back after considerable phone time. Many years later (i.e. this year) I learned that you can't just break an agreement by having your number change. You still have to like.. formally cancel with the company and such. I have no idea what the agreement says about that. I remember the days of "the customer is always right". (Actually, I don't.)
Because everytime I type something that takes 15 seconds, I *really* want to spend 5 minutes going through my addressbook of 1200 contacts to figure out who my 100 actual friend are. Over, and over, and over. And I just love managing lists and having to add friends to it one at a time. [extreme sarcasm on] It especially works well with all the people I lost touch with and didn't have the email address of! [/sarcasm off] You know, the ones that populate my friend list these days? The people I liked and thought I'd never see again?
Indeed, we should all get off your lawn.
Nevermind the fact that everything you said could (and was) said about email 10 years ago. It's almost like you became an old man when it was past being cool to do so, haha.
Not always true. I've had numbers I never gave charged by companies that had past business relations with me. They simply called up MasterCard (or whatever they did), asked for the new number, and got to charge me without my permission. I know this because my card was hacked and replaced with a new number, which I never gave them.
p.s. I used to not know where it said what your karma was, but I just checked, and mine is actually Excellent. Not that it matters. My signature is parody. As much parody as you are of a compassionate human being.
I provided a link of a comment I liked earlier. You could perhaps do the same and provide me the link to the comment that you are supposedly referring to.
and what do you do when the person at CVS refuses to give you your prescription because they have idiotic judgmental views (you know -- like yours). If you say it doesn't happen, then you have no clue how to use google. Mostly, though, you are a disgusting individual, up there with the likes of George Bush. You think people get what they deserve. That is actually a tenet of Satanism.
Actually, even our for-profit pharmaceutical corporations get a LOT LOT LOT of government grants. But of course, corporations don't accent this fact, because then people like you wouldn't be able to spout excuses like you just spouted.
to see nothing. But all you'd have to do is a simple google to prove yourself wrong. I know it's alot easier to declare "with my head in the sand, i've never heard of a single case!" however, your statement is rather useless when faced with the actual reality of... well, reality:
what reality are you in? You do realize the people who aren't treated are MOST OFTEN DEAD and that's why you don't hear from them. American hospitals are only required to stabilize immediate health conditions that threaten your immediate health. Diseases and cancer do not fall into this category; if you don't have insurance, you will get treated, but only once you ARE IN THE PROCESS OF ACTUALLY DYING. If you have cancer and no insurance, nobody is going to pay for your chemotherapy. Once you start dying, and go to the hospital, then the hospital will try to keep you alive, but obviously will fail because you have advanced cancer. I spent a summer reviewing medical records of uninsured people, many who died. This is how it goes. And every death results in $500,000 of hospital money spent, which doesn't get recovered by insurance when the person is uninsured. Which is exactly why that person doesn't get more treatment; it already costs half a million just to let one person die. The money's simply not there under the current system, unless we socialize our health care like the rest of the developed world.
post. Gee, someone couldn't accidentally "sleep with the wrong person" who HAPPENS TO BE A DRUG USER. A lot of non-drug user, straight people get infected due to drug users getting infected. You fucking moron. You're in the same class as Catholics who wont dole out birth control. You make me sick. Your specious logic is laughable.
so if i managed to convince them to have the polls in a church i own, i could put up a sign that says "fuck people who vote for mccain" or such nonsense? is that what you're saying?
Apparently not. Dumbass.

I shall consider your comment a personal favor to me by saving me the time of having to make it myself :)

believe me, I know the feeling (823 credit rating, and am on my 7th broadband provider since 2000)
nice that it actually worked out for 1 out of the 3 of us talking about it right now :)
Nice story! You did the right thing! So, who do you use now?
I was later forced to convert to Visa! (Just sayin'.)

oh i get it. i missed the posts that are out there "somewhere" where you actually make sense. i suspect i'll live.
Watch out for those Arab terrorists too! They hate our freedoms!
