I'm a marine avionicsman stationed at mcas new river, home of the osprey. I've seen theh quality of the software that comes out of china lake (our test site) and it's usually a pain in the ass to get new systems up and running with the basic software used on the huey's and cobra's that I work with. I dare not imagine the crap that the avi guys have to put up with in a "glass cockpit" integrated software package. eeugh. add to that the idea's of working with an airframe that NOONE has experience with, from the pfc's to the gunnery sergeants, and it sounds like a recipie for disaster. And on a side note, I saw an osprey up close in a hanger on base the other day when I went to the battery locker, and I'm amased the things even get off the ground, weather they stay that way or not.
If you like the more pastel, gentle anime style of Mononoke, check out Totoro, by the same director. it's a childrens movie, but the art is amazing. Has a nice story, too.
what about using this inside acock pit on a helo, slaving the gun on the nose to whatever the gunner happens to be focused on? the military has used a helmet sight system for years, but it depends on a tracking arm linked to the gunner's helmit. if this could be turned into a weapon, it would result in a needed boost in our recession bound economy. our number one export is indeed arms.
