  1. off-by-one ssh web browser? on OpenSSH Local Root Hole · · Score: 1

Is it just me or is the release of this browser under the name "off by one" with openssh support seem a little fishy to anyone?

  2. patent runs out soon on Philips Says Compact Discs Can't be Copyprotected · · Score: 4, Redundant

Unfortuneatly according to the article, Philip's patent runs out in 2002/3 (hitting that 20yr mark).

So, they won't be able to enforce it soon anyway.

  3. you have that backwards on Sony vs Modchips · · Score: 4, Informative

According to TheRegister article, its actually the opposite that has Sony "annoyed".

The article says "Mod-chips ... free users to use titles from any zone" in regards to playing games and DVDs region free. It continues on to say "However, the chips can also be used to play copied and pirated titles on the console, which is where Sony starts to get annoyed;...".

It really doesn't take much to proof read an article quickly before posting a story to make sure everything lines up...

  5. its about time on The Waning of the Overlapping Window Paradigm? · · Score: 1

I'm constantly "tiling/arranging" my workspace and have written/used various programs that'll remember the placement of my windows, so next time I open them it organizes it correctly.

For those complaining about small monitors. Ever hear of a Virtual Window Manager (and similar)? That should be second nature for most X users, and for Windows alt shell users.

But, yah... the current overlapping window standard has got to go. What I see in the SS of that ION WM seems to be my type of interface.

  6. only solution is an OpenSource Movie on Antitrust · · Score: 1

The only way a "geek" movie will be made that most "geeks" will like, is if its made in an "OpenSource" style.

No I'm not in anyway associated with those, just a quick search and copy-paste from google.com
