  1. In NPR's defence on Blogspace vs. NPR · · Score: 3, Insightful

Seems NPR has hit quite a nerve.

What about The New York Times site? (free reg req'd, blah, blah) Their site is often linked to from /. and requires a reg. Free as it is, what purpose does it serve? To see who is reading what? Or to stop people from linking directly to their stories?

Next /. poll, how many of those complaining pledge to NPR?

Ever listen to NPR? Hear any ads? See any on their website? Even our precious /. has ads.

I agree that the user/admin should have the freedom to allow it to expire. How about making it a configure option? Say expire on a date I give or a suggest date from the author. Give the program an email address to nag if it expires?

Same company that makes the OmniRemote software, makes hardware IR extenders. See other posts. My Visor Deluxe will work fine from about 10' on everything, but my TV.

I totally agree. I played with it on my Handspring Deluxe and it can replace any remote. You can setup the screens on the PDA so there is no need for and other software. You can also do Macros. So, "Play DVD" will turn on the TV, turn on the DVD player, etc.

Also I love my x10 (yes, yes, the pop-up add people) 8 in 1 Universal Remote. It is a good universal remote and has x10 support which is the kicker.

  5. Who would use crypto with a backdoor? on How Would Crypto Back Doors Work? · · Score: 1

People or groups that really want there data encrypted would just write their own crypto. Why would anyone plan world domination using crypto that has a know backdoor. Crypto backdoors will only create more tech jobs within secret organizations. Could stimulate the crypto tech sector.

La-Z-Boy has had storage compartments in the arms for a while. In fact one could get a built in mini-frig/cooler job.
