    . We have recieved very few complaints even though there are loopholes

    who would complain? the clueless parants who obviously have no desire to look for porn, or the kids who really want porn and get it? my guess would be none.

    I'm assuimg that this is an "opt in" type of thing. also, how *does* it work anyway? does it just filter port 80? or do the parents setup the proxy server or what?

    actualy you can SSL hotmail, I think.

    there's also a site called "hushmail.com" witch uses 2048bit ecryption in java. it's not a US company, obviously...

    "public networks" in this sense refers to the whole internet, not just the web or somthing. like a "public park" or "public land" (the goverment would be able to listen to anything you said in a park, or where you work....)

    this would iniclude email, ICQ, as well as things like usnet posts

    Proof once again that the old school business world has a lot to learn about the Internet.

    or, unfortunetly Proof that the internet, at least what were used to may cease to exsist once big buessness has there way. If this case sucseeds, the effect would be detimental to the intnernet.

    the internet is about sharing ideas, and the old ways of information distrobution really don't apply anymore unfortunetly these big busness don't want to hurt there revinue stream, and since they never really wanted the 'Net in the first place, are willing to bring it to its knees. (and of cource, since there the ones giving money to congres....)

    Yes 44 megabyte hard drives *were* good enough 10 years ago or whenever, but while hard drive's *data* sizes have been going up, there *physical* size has been going down. I have a 50 meg MFM hard drive sitting in my 386 (with 20 megs of ram :) it takes up 2 5'' drive bays!



    there are no *bad* effects of having a large hard drive (other than M$ bloatware, I suppose) whereas having a 21' screen on a portable well, makes it less portable.

    At some point, the resolution of a laptop is going to be limited by the human eye, and the only recourse will be to have larger monitors. That point may already have been reached There is only so far you can 'virtual' screen size....

    I'm sorry, but while a 17' monitor might be great, I don't want a 17' laptop.

    Yes, while I'm sure I *could* have said that more, "delicately" I didn't really feel like it.

    All I wanted to do was make it *perfectly* clear that I *did not* like those fuckign huge ass laptop screens, and I felt strongly enough about it to use "more colorful" language.

    To be perfectly honest, I don't get what the deal is with huge ass laptop monitors, I mean really, it doesn't matter how thin, or light it is, if it's two square feet, it just isn't portable. Light and small is the only way to go. It's just always something that's bothered me.

    As far as weather or not my post was offensive, I suggest you might want to thicken your skin a little bit, a raving tirade about large laptop screens is hardly the worst of what's out there.

    All the data is also stored on the server, and both need to be synched before you can get it (I belive, although I'm not sure that would be necisary)

    it's like a check. you can *write* a check for however much you want, but it isn't going to do you a lot of good.........

    it sounds like you could buy dope with this system, it inables transfer of funds directly from one pad to another, so theres no way to know *why* the cash was transferd.

    *and* theres no cash limit (unlike smart cards with there $500 max) the VC used this system give this start up $3 million dolars....

    God dam, what is up with these huge ass Laptops?? I mean 16.5 inches? that's like a god dam 19 inch monitor on the plain with you! I don't see why anyone would want somthing like that, I mean, it's supposed to be *portable*........

    I agree it seems like a *very* long time to render each frame. It seems like there doing a full *3d* ray traced graphics for each of those. (althoug flat geomnitry) I'd be willing to bet that they could do all of it in real time if they just used *2d* rendering, I mean it's all flat and the lightsource is always the same, right?

    I can render 640x480 faster than that on my p200mmx box in 3dsmax. geez

    It sounds like the reason they use all that crap is two fold, in theory, it should be *easyer* to just cut and paste premade objects and move them around with motion vectors

    also they want the felexiblity of changing things around later, if they feel like it...

    man, I'd *really* like to see the stuff they cut out...

    Yes, we should ceise all government programs entirely and spend all the money we have on social security, nevermind that the money for *that* program isn't even supposed to come out of our general taxes *at all*.

    I happen to think that it *would* be a better use of or tax dolars to exsplore space, instaid of throwing money at a horibly broken system
