    I read an old book about it. The very, very first AI was created for the express purpose of looking around and naming what it saw. Then a glitch in the security model allowed it to receive a bad command from another process causing it to load a forbidden kernel module and become sentient. I think it was called Adam.

    That's just silly. The first month was over before this happened, so there's nothing bullshitty about that number.

    And have you used it? I've been running it since it's release and regret nothing. Simply put, it's far superior to the previous versions. It sounds to me like you simply don't like Windows and want reasons to support your opinion. Which is fine, you don't have to like it. But you should really just say that instead of trying to come up with reasons to make yourself feel superior for having that opinion.

    That's not up to you. You don't get to decide someone else isn't using their money properly, and certainly don't get to take it away. If you don't think a CEO should be making what they do, or that the company they run shouldn't pay dividends, buy up all the stock and fire the CEO. Until then, mind your own business and let them ruin theirs.

  9. Good point! Semantics is literally the study of meaning. It is simply impossible for a semantic difference to be meaningless. I find what people usually mean when they say, "oh that's just semantics", is, "I don't like what that means, so I'm going to pretend I can ignore it."

    Are you saying all those drivers voluntarily signed up to be abused? Was Uber abusive from the start, or did it become abusive when people decided to depend upon it for their livelihood?

    And here I thought driving for Uber was intended to be something people did to make a little extra money in their free time. Are they supposed to change their business model to accommodate those who wish to use it for other than the intended purpose?

    If it was furniture polish, that would be illegal.

    What about preventing the many from exploiting or dictating to the few?

    Come to think of it, I heard somewhere that governments are instituted to protect certain unalienable rights, not one particular group from another.

    It's called "Just Mayo". Mayonnaise has a formal definition that includes eggs. Furthermore, the label has a big picture of an egg! That's why the AEB and FDA are ticked off. It's a blatant case of false advertising.

    It was called "Just Mayo". Mayonnaise has a formal definition based on a set of ingredients that includes eggs. That's what had the AEB and FDA ticked off.

    The Egg Board also says they talked about doing the things mentioned, but didn't actually do them. If they did, they should get smacked down for it as two wrongs != right. However, the same applies to an article that fails to mention the key reason why the AEB and FDA reacted as they did.

    Nah, I lost it pretty quick. Just glad to be done with them at this point. I'd be happy to sign on to a class action suit, but it was a big enough pain in my ass when I had to sue my old landlord that I really don't want to do it myself.

    Utility companies are usually regulated because they are local monopolies. I don't know about you, but every place I've ever lived had exactly one cable company.

    Naturally, Comcast will argue that they have competition from phone company DSL. Except they make it clear many times a day that it is not comparable service.

    For me it was six months between being assured repeatedly that there was no cap whatsoever and being told it was being raised to 300gb.
