and yes, i realize bigass guns like the BFR are fired two-fisted (even then, i don't see how a 450 Marlin wont snap your wrists and dent your forehead), and i don't really expect a woman to tote one of those around. my s&w 660 9mm would be a much better choice, duh.
myself personally, i pack a 6" 357 Mag full of 158gr JHPs...it's a bit of a pain in the wrist one-handed but still perfectly manageable; it's almost totally reliable (yes, i know automatics are too, but i like to err on the side of caution) and in a personal defense situation i don't plan on needing more than six rounds, especially with a freakin' hand cannon like that. and yes, i am a macho bastard:D
They make the legendary Desert Eagle automatics,.357 Mag up to.50AE; their BFR [Biggest Finest Revolver] line goes all the way up to.450 Marlin, packing an insane 3500ft-lbs at the muzzle...now THAT'S protection!
possibly, or IRIC. funny story, i did notice the solid axle when my college buddy decided it would be a good idea to floor his Camaro through a soaking wet, sharp S-turn, and then mash the brakes when the tail snapped out ("when my car goes out of control, I just want to get it stopped as soon as possible"...the guardrail certainly stopped it well...) - we ended up taking a Sawzall to it to get the two right quarterpanels off so he could drive it home. fun stuff, attacking a car with something that destructive:)
yeah, i know that's how it works - i was pointing out that the parent post wasn't entirely accurate in saying that credit transactions take a few days to show up in your online statement; mine show up in minutes. i'm a bit of a pedant that way sometimes:)
The Card Verification Number is a security feature placed on credit cards and debit cards to ensure that the person entering the card number online or over the phone has possession of the card.
while sending a reusable vehicle up 62 miles and then back down, and doing it again in a week is certainly quite an achievement, but it's certainly not in the same ballpark as putting up an ISS or sending a man to the moon. same game, but not really even the same league - it's like your local slow-pitch softball league vs. MLB. someday, i have no doubt we will see true private space exploration, but for now only governments (hell, not even individual gov'ts, rather a semi-global conglom-o) have the means for "true" spaceflight.
actually, IIRC even the newest Vette still uses a solid rear axle on leaf springs. granted, the differential is now a transaxle, and the springs are some sophisticated composite, but still...LEAF SPRINGS, like my dad's Ram truck. IRS, anybody?
Some of the files I saw appeared to be on users' member sites for their ISP accounts. I suppose this is supposed to be a poor man's remote-access method, in that they can get to important files through the Web page. Oy, what a bad idea!
Sometimes other net users, specially those who just learned to use ProntPage, really ARE that dumb. Hanlon's Razor...

well, at my bank (Fleet), 'credit' transactions show up immediately but are listed as "Pnd Crd Trns"; the Available Balance is adjusted accordingly, then the Actual Balance updates a few days later when the transaction clears. Ditto ATM deposits - I get $100 available immediately and my actual balance updates, then it all falls into line a few days later.
well, i would have to say clean, analog-recorded-and-mastered vinyl on a $4000 turntable with a $2500 needle hooked to a $6000 tube amp through a set of $15000 speakers is really the best sound ever; hell, my mint condition Workingman's Dead sounds way better than CD on a $200 turntable. anyway, the APSpeakers aren't 'audiophile quality' by a long shot, but they do kick the snot out of a Wave Radio, or most anything short of a good component system for that matter (bookshelf stereos have better bass by virtue of sheer woofer size, but the fidelity just isn't there). oh, and the APSpeakers are digital IIRC, they use a proprietary USB connector (converter boxes are available though).
save $300 and pick up a pair of the Apple (well, Harman/Kardon...) Pro Speakers, the little spherical jobbies - on top of looking pretty damn cool, they have Insanely Good Sound, MUCH better than my roomie's Wave Radio (which is really just a set of cheap clock radio speakers with some EQ hardware and a fancy-schmancy resonant cavity to make the sound richer). yes, you need a $1,000+ computer to hook them up to, but if you already have the mac, save your money.

and offload the work to the GPU. sure, you still need a semi-decent graphics card, but nothing screaming fast (i have a Radeon 9000 Pro in my PowerMac, it works just fine). yes, it would be nice if every app ever developed would run smoothly on a 50mhz 486, but c'mon...an 800mhz PIII isn't THAT expensive. see the other posts as for why you'd want compositing in the first place.
been out of town for a few days, so i haven't had a chance to respond in a timely fashion, but i just have to bite...
He shouldn't be tried for perjury, he should be tried for high treason in a nutshell, you're a fucktard with not a damned clue what you're talking about when you spout your "treason" drivel. from the United States Code, Title 18, Chapter 115, Section 2381 (link):
Treason
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
game, set, match on that one.
people like you think it's okay or something i never said any goddamn thing bush has done or is doing is moral, acceptable or in any way OK, but it's mostly not ILLEGAL as the law reads in the United States - if you think he's the first or last pres to lie to congress to advance his personal agenda, you really need to start paying attention in US history class (now, the whole Cheney-Halliburton thing, well...)
for the record, according to the USC, Clinton is a traitor, that whole China thing...and no, that shitstorm over lewinsky was totally unneccessary and a huge waste of gov't resources. good media spectacle, though.
oh, and the word you're looking for is "unconstituational", have a nice day:)
don't get me wrong, we need international goodwill to be a player on the global stage and to be able to interact with other countries in any way other than through intimidation...BUT...we don't need the goodwill of the rest of the world to be a superpower..you know why? He IS the CINC and is well within his legal rights to order our boys to die for just about whatever cause he sees fit, specially since congress authorized him to, and IIRC he's never been sworn so he's never committed perjury. i'm no huge bush fan, but jesus - get your shit straight, kid.
mythbusters worked on that one a while ago [yes, i know, blatantly unscientific, but this particular one was pretty sound]; they took an old 707 and pressurized the cabin to 30K' equivalent, then put a 9mm round through the wall - sure, air leaked out, but it certainly wasn't explosive decompression; IIRC it wasn't even anything the cabin pressure system couldn't deal with. bullet holes are small, and the pressure differential is usually a few psi, so there's not much ruckus there. now, when they strapped a pound of HE to the wall, that was a different story - one of the coolest things i've seen on TV in awhile.
anyway, putting a JHP into a terrorist is a guaranteed stopper, rubber bullets might just piss them off more.
yah, ghost recon 0wnorz for realistic military sim. seriously - i have a couple of friends from hs who recently got out of the Marines, we play till our eyes bleed.
yeah, i realized that after i posted; i have all three, kinda hard to keep track of what's what (specially since i don't care, since i only ever fire them up if i Need to run a win app)
if you really want to transcode WMAs with iTunes on an OSX box, get a copy of VirtualPC and Win98; it runs iTunes just fine. bit slow, but beggars can't be choosers.
