Clive Longbottom is internationally recognised in the provision of advice on foundational issues, covering hardware, operating system and collaborative technology issues as applied to today's dynamic businesses. Coming from an end-user background... Stop right there! Dodwell is elsewhere listed as a marketing manager, hardly someone to speak authority on this subject.
I wonder who Bill considers his competitors? Not me, I'll bet. This doesn't sound like they're going to give the source away, just let `competitors' have a peek.
One Gotcha I read about in Charles Ferguson's book "High Stakes, No Prisoners" is that some companies (e.g. the old Pixar) put in your contract that that they have the right to buy your options back at the strike price (i.e. virtually nothing) whenever they want. Watch out for stuff like this. Other things to think about is how the interests of top management might conflict with yours -- if the company gets sold to Microsoft how much Microsoft stock will your shares be worth? Its pretty much up to Microsoft and your CEO.
I program, indeed, I have done a great deal of work on such projects as rpm, bigloo, xawtv, STk, and Crystal Space. I just don't have time to delve into this one at the moment, particularly since I have found a workaround: gqmpeg. I have tried to report this problem to the developers but I haven't gotten a sense that they have noticed.
As it is it always canonicalizes your path -- if you organize your music directories using symbolic links it forgets which symbolic link you navigated into a directory by and puts you in the "real" directory. So I can't poke around all my romantic period music, it always dumps me back in the "by name" directory.
I use Bank of America for on-line bill paying and (because I'm now in CA) ATM card. They had a nice web site when everyone else was deploying windows-only systems. They have an associated on-line brokerage, but I prefer the less expensive DLJdirect.
I played this game on an Evans and Sutherland LDS-1 (Line Drawing System) connected to a PDP-10 around 1972. I imagine there were similar displays back through the sixties, but without the hardware matrix multiplier. Its not a progressive scan display, the computer controls the vertical and horizontal deflection coils and drives the dot to exactly where it wants, thus drawing lines.
Barksdale managed to eeke out a little something from Netscape. A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon you're talking about real money...
Its a proof of concept, you can't actually use it to watch and listen to movies.

You don't want one of *those* solid state drives...
Just send the second disk to a friend across the
country who has DSL or a cable modem.
Its hard to imagine how Intel will monitor what you're doing after you've wiped the hard drive and installed a new operating system.
I guess the idea is to get folks to waste time on the internet when they're at home rather than at work.
Of *course* its the same. And last time I checked the Realplayer 6.0 had a busy wait that makes it pin my CPU meter whenever its playing.

Since Borland has 2.5 times Corel's revenues I'm not too worried about the dilution.
That's far from obvious since they have been at it for almost two years.
At PBS.
Its more like For every RedHat or VA there are ten companies that tank.

Patent panic *did* begin in the earliest days of the web, its just that those patents are just being issued now.
Go to www.shoutcast.com, www.mp3.com, all the streams there can be played by xmms.
Many many crimes are punishable by death in china. Family even gets an invoice for the cost of the bullets.
How about one of these babies!

The NYPD.
The point is that there are a lot of artists who are seriously out of touch
That is most emphatically NOT the point. You are missing several layers of irony.
Don't get so upset! Just because you don't consider something to be part of the OS doesn't mean you can't have it.
