Yes, I guess pirated movies do cost the authors something - because if we hadn't have seen it and realised how crap it was, all four of us would had paid money, and been very disappointed.
That is excactly why the MPAA is pissed over pirating. They would have had your money now, see.. they can handle you being disapointed... even "very disapointed" is fine with them, as long as they have your money.
Because I believe 10,000 lawsuits by the same entity in the span of less than two years indicates that something is broken in the legal system.
For companies suing citizens: "Please deposit the amount of cash you sue this person for. If you win, you will get your deposit back."...no, it's never going to work...
10000 suits * $3000.00 dollars settled/suit = 30 million dollars paid to the RIAA over 20 months or 1.5million/month.
The sweet part of this calculation is, that the RIAA doesn't have to share any of the money with the artists on whos behaf they are suing. I don't even think they have to share the money with the record companies they represent in the suits.
Now how do you like them apples?
By the way, this group has a PayPal account where you can make a donation. When fileshares are sued, they will help them with legal advice AND cover some bills, if the filesharer elects to fight in court. The catch is, that the Danish version of RIAA can't sue anybody for "more money than the industry as a whole earned before taxes last year", as it seems to be possible in the United States. In other words punitive damages does not exist.
my iPod is made in China.. the other hardware is probably made there as well.. just next to plant where they make any other electronic product we buy.. The Chineese make it, we buy it.
..well, it also happened on my PowerBook Duo 230, running System 7.1.. we are talking 1992, here... drag'n'drop is not a new feature on Macs.
Just for fun, try doing the drag'n'drop thing with two different applications (not both from Microsoft).. drag'n'drop works for all applications on a Mac... hell, you can even select a few minutes of a QuickTime movie and drop it anywhere you want!
If you have an iPod, you probably use iTunes. If your flatmate has the CD, why don't you just let iTunes rip the CD for you and be done with it? If he doesn't have the CD, iTunes will happily convert wma files to mp3 or aac, again, you don't really have a problem putting music on you iPod..
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it hard if not impossible to find DVD players that are not region free in the region 2 zone?
naa, just buy a Sony, then you'll have a player that woun't play DivX, VCD or any other format you can imagine.. no, crappy restricted players are not hard to come buy..:-)

With the DVD in hand, you can't share it with anybody!
