    Dell does rebranding of hardware...I will never buy it for Linux or even for Windows - if I ever run Windows, but that is an entirely different talk.

    Why not spend > 1000? ...one of the shittier aspects of cheap laptops is the quality of the video display, and believe me, you will spend a lot of hours looking at it.

    Dell, Lenovo and Compaq/HP do whitelisting/rebranding of hardware to do vendor lock-in and avoiding you to customize your hardware, so they are ENTIRELY out of question for a new Linux machine.

    Some of us are more lucky. I have been using Linux/*BSD as servers since 1996 and Apple as desktop/notebook since 2005 in a corporate environment.

    Change to FreeBSD and be done with it. At least what you will learn will be valid many years to come. MS has not the best interest in providing business continuity, and they interest now is ramming powershell down the users throats simply to leverage a monopoly and have less people objecting to use the language that controls their cloud services.

    The barrier to entry for the resources to monitor customer usage to basically working for free for the media cartels, the period of data retention, and other legal requirements are a big barrier of costs of entry on the business that familiar ISPes can no longer afford.

    This comment is spot on. Many people do not realize that they pay 3 to 8 times the average price of electricity if they let on all the time their A/C and/or water heating units.

    If some says 11 hours time difference do no matter, that person is being delusional. I worked as an expat abroad, and the 2 hours difference time was extremely painful in critical phases of projects or in malfunctions.

  24. Exactly , I second you too guys . I have to fix up all the linuxes in my server farm, and at my work laptop where I do not need every ounce of performance, MacBook does the job without giving too much headaches.
