MACs are layer 2, a wifi router only will only show you the MAC of the WAN interface unless it is on bridging mode. And even if you define the MAC of the normal equipment connected there, many commercial wifi routers have an option to clone the MAC, so people configure right in the web interface the MAC of the current equipment, and you won't even know there is there a new equipment. You have already found some wifi routers configured like that on our corporate network, and when I worked for an ISP customers did that routinely too.
When you use ROMs, firmware, operating systems and software designed by americans, with backdoors to all the three letters national agencies you can think off.
And not seeing the obvious. This is a move to close down the 2nd hand market. It is so obvious, a 5 year old could get it. And only gots to show that more than ever, you are not buying programs anymore, but just licenses to run them. On a side note, nobody is forcing you to buy from Ubisoft. If you are not fond of firms with underhanded tactics, do not buy from hem. It is a pity a firm with such a long reputation gets this reputation.
Actually I found that many people in IT are lacking both critical thinking skills and depth of knowledge. To be successful into programming, system administration or whatever you have to have a solid learning base and understand that several disciplines touch each other and you have to take them into account. Really, the major flaw I have seen in many of my coworkers over the years is that they look at the tree, and forget there is an ecosystem that allows the forest to function and thrive, and everything is interconnected.
Luck you then, because I am not US based. At the end of the year, all earnings get combined, and I will have to pay retroactively the taxes for my day job at a higher bracket than my employer paid for me.
I remember seeing a open network in lots of odd places, like trains, when you had no wifi in trains. It was usually in hadhoc mode. Some time later on I learnt it was a virus in Windows that opened it up to try to propagate to other hosts.
Back in 2000 I visited Washington, found a radio shack. The store look was shady at best, and empty. They would not allow me to buy a cable without my contact details. I did not buy it actually, do not remember the specific details, it was so long ago, I think I had the passport in my hotel room.
There are other factors in play too. Often guy are willing or do not have a choice, have to start to work early on life. They are more keen also to forgo "friends" at work and job security, and make jumps for better salaries (i.e. change jobs more often), and alas, that is often pretty much the one way to get a raise. Because of the seniority they also often have more power of negotiation. And then we get to see studies that there is a gender gap...no surprise there.
| Not only are these scientific fields sexist, but this study comes to sexist conclusions as well. I'm sad to see slashdot has chosen to post it.
No idea why was this modded as a troll. You might not like it, but it is the reality.
Liberal professionals here have draconian taxes compared to regular employees. And then if you already have your day job, the additional income will also will make the bracket where you are on you daily job go up + the aforementioned additional taxes. It is not the accounting. Either you (already) have a steady flux of customers, or you will lose money. For the occasional gig, better forget about it.
Exactly, a side job. However, there are other sides to the story. This measures are there to keep people on their toes and restrict the competition and entry of the market of businesses that would affect revenue of establishment and their cronies.
Someone has to be mature in class, and that is the role of the teachers. They have to man up and suck it up that in life there are people who are more brilliant or more specialised in ares of subjects than yourselves. Instead of worrying about that, enlist their help. It would be more productive and less stressful and boring for both sides. Lets face it, the IT field is too vague and broad as it is nowadays, and often teachers/professors are also assigned subjects they are not prepared to teach. This is a situation that is bound to happen. It also does not help that experience outside academia for more than 5 years is not mandatory for such teaching positions. I was always one step ahead on many subjects, and refused to do assignments "copying the book" (not exaggerating, you have this assignment and the solution is in this book). In one particular case, the professor could not believe that in data structures I gave a far better and simpler solution than the book provided, and at least I knew that particular assignment was not given again for some years.

No they are not, I upgraded my Debian 7 yesterday, the date of this article.
Would it not be wiser on the long run to implement 802.1X with MAC authentication?
Do you realise there have been alternative to Windows systems for quite SOME time, right?

Better tell Obama to say to the world they will have another blockade because they are pirating american games....
Launch the MPAA dogs and another blocked in Cuba, bomb them. How dare they ran a sharing network without paying copyright fees? Bloody communists!

Why hack computers? I do not doubt they have official backdoors to Windows, Apple, Cisco and Checkpoint products, at least.
a bullshit clock makes it to news and slashdot?
Brilliant sir.
installed without PC owners knowing as malware.... should provide hours of fun to the FBI.
Can your dog walk your pedometer around home?
"Please install SilverLight" "it will only take a minute" Fuck you amazon.
