Not withstanding any of the good comments you made, I assume that this quote was written by some marketing department somewhere. From my experience, the vast majority of press releases work this way. At best they read the paragraph to Bowie, and he agreed that they could attribute the quote to him.
Patents don't cover as much as you might think when it comes to design. Obviously Dell could not cc Apple's case, but they could safely design a quite similar case. The idea behing the case and the general look & feel can be similar without any copyright infringement.
You are partially correct. THX is a certification given to A/V electronics that adhere to a minimum of standards regarding such things as signal quality, power, and other goodies - depending on the type of equipment (i.e. speakers or amps, etc.) THX certification does not have anything to do with listening to two different sources in two different rooms.
Side note Dolby labs spearheaded the THX certification movement.
How is it possible that I just downloaded 107MB in 4:58 over a single T1 with a max xfer rate of ~180KB/sec?
107MB / 4:58 = 370 KB/sec (clearly more than my T1)
Am i missing something here?

How about IEEE-1394, otherwise known as Apple's Firewire technonogy? Don't ever count Apple out when it comes to technical capability or innovation.
