I agree completely. The patent system and patent trolls that use it claim to be "ensuring that those whose ideas are being used get compensated" Really this is just a way to extort developers with good ideas. It is unfortunate that people have (by people I mostly mean folks in the legal profession) have twisted things in such a way, however we can complain or try to do something about it.
At the very least write your senator / congressman.
