I never understood the fascination with Minecraft. The whole blocks concept looks extremely crude in 3D, but in 2D it looks as good if not better than older games when you look at Terraria and Starbound.
I tried watching on the Apple TV, I had all the problems mentioned by everyone, including my Apple TV totally freezing and needing a reboot via disconnecting the power cable.
Also, the summary says "They've launched their Edison board, which features an x86 based SoC running at 100 MHz." but from what I've read, the CPU is a dual-core Atom running at 500MHz, it's the uC which runs at 100MHz.
I didn't say there was image quality issues. I didn't say there was image compression issues. I didn't say the stream lagged.
All the problems I described aren't a bandwidth problem at all. All the bandwidth on the planet would never have solved those problems because they were at the source and whoever was in charge probably is looking for another job right now, hopefully in another industry.
Oh, the ISPs interlaced part of the video stream, did they? They made it loop? They added minutes of this image into the stream? They added chinese audio on top of the english one?
Like it or not, this was a total clusterfuck. Whoever modded my first comment above as flamebait is a blind Apple follower. And I say that as an Apple user. When shit happens, don't cover your ears and pretend nothing bad is happening.
Whoever was in charge of the live stream are a bunch of amateurs, incompetent idiots and should be fired, publicity shamed and never hired again.
Interlacing problems with the image, video looping, audio with no video, chinese audio on top of the english one, a stream so full of errors that it froze my Apple TV.
I stopped watching and I'll try later tonight, after Apple has cleaned up that fucking mess. What a joke.
I may be an Apple user and fanboy, but this time the Microsoft and Android fanboys can rip into Apple for this clusterfuck of problems, I'll be cheering for them.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing more french subtitled titles on Netflix. They bothered to make a Canadian service, which is only roughly 12.5% of the potential USA market, but they haven't bothered to understand that nearly 25% of the Canadian population lives in Québec and that most of them only speak french. I always watch in the native language with english or french subtitles, so I don't care personally but a lot of my friends which could be potential Netflix subscribers will never sign up because of this.
What's worst is that 99.9% of the DVDs have at least french subtitles but when those movies appear on Netflix Canada, they only have english audio with english subtitles. Heck, a few are even missing the english subtitles.
I suspect you are right. Both Bell and Rogers have announced streaming content services, available only to subscribers of their networks.
And that alone shows you how Canadian media companies are just incredibly stupid. They want to block Netflix in every possible way but then they shoot themselves in the foot by not making their own services available to all Canadians, knowing that most of the population don't have access to multiple ISPs except in the half-dozen major cities of the country.
And this is the only information that you need.
Would you like to purchase 100 dirt blocks for 10 Microsoft points?

All iPods?

AFAIK, Intel Atom is and always was an x86 CPU.
I think you meant "it's both an Atom CPU and an MCU".
Better as far as the hardware and specifications goes yes, but what about support? Which one is the most popular with the game emulation communities?
So, you're Kevoco's wife?

The price I saw, without shields, is 49$USD. The thing I can't find is if this thing has any video and audio output capabilities.
Would this be better than a RaspberryPI for small-scale arcade cabinets?
To be honest, I always thought that interlaced video is something that should have died when we switched to digital.

The difference between Apple and Amazon is that Apple understands there's a market outside of the USA.
The standard packet size should be OVER 9000!!!

If you don't know about 42, you don't belong here.

At first it was a 32-cores CPU but they had to scale it down because of budget cuts.
alternate reply: they calculated the number of cores on an old Pentium.
You know what would be awesome? A 42-cores CPU. To keep your cup of tea really, really hot.
And then, Atmel. Anyone up for a quad-core ATtiny85?
