Who the fuck messed around with the classic layout of Slashdot?
Now there's either way too much margin between posts or not enough space between lines in our user pages... Somebody's messing around without checking what they're doing.
Ive: "Hey, I don't like outlines on buttons, they clash with my finely crafted hardware." Me: "We need outlines on buttons otherwise we don't know what's a button and what's an icon indicator."
If you need to try to interact with the GUI before knowing that you can actually interact with it, you failed.
Why does a PoS computer have an email client installed? Why does a PoS computer have Microsoft Word installed?
And why is the email client even running?
A PoS computer should only be connected to an intranet and should only be running the PoS software. Everything else should be completely locked down. Someone messed up, big time.
It's cable. And yes it's ridiculous, I keep telling them but their reply is "faster connections have higher data caps". Which are of course a lot more expensive, not to mention the fact that I wouldn't need those faster speeds 99% of the time.
I hope they ship on Blu-Ray because that's going to be too many DVDs and a lot of Canadians have very low monthly data caps thanks to ISP monopolies in a lot of areas.
How big is thing thing going to be? This is the first time in nearly a decade that I hope a game is available on optical media, but my gaming PC doesn't even have one. Between Battle.net and Steam, I never had the need for one.
And with my monthly data quota of about 40GB, this makes it unlikely that I'm going to download so much data for a single game.
Better hold them for a little longer... I only said "hundreds of dollars" so you kind of overshot there, mister optimist. Didn't you notice them going from 1200 to 880? Who buys on a down trend?
What is 'intuitive and user friendly' about buttons that no longer look like buttons, so the user has to GUESS what is and isn't a button, by mousing over every bit of text in the program?
The same thing happened to OS X and iOS. What once was clear and easy to understand is now pretty and mostly useless.
Those "screenshots" are only 600x375. They're more on the side of being huge thumbnails than actual screenshots.
Unless of course you're still using a 640x480 display, in which case you're seeing an article from the future. Hello from the future! Buy these things called "Bitcoins", they'll be worth hundreds of dollars some day!

Links are underlined, buttons are in a box.
The latest UI craze is to put icons everywhere, with no indication that they are buttons.
Apple has enough money to bring the UK to the USA. It's already an island*, after all.
* islands just float on the ocean, right? There's only one cable to cut?

What the DS9 episode where she gets stuck in the turbolift with Odo, that should change your mind.

Can we please get a "Dark humour" mod for times like these?
Also, "Sad truth" would be helpful in some cases.
He's not your guy, buddy.
Scientists, making gay mosquitoes on purpose?

It seems the problem is that I don't have a Facebook account. If you call that a problem.
Shame on samzenpus for thinking everyone is a lemming, especially on Slashdot.
Same here. Facebook is not the Web. Requiring someone to be on Facebook to access your content is just stupid.
This is what I get:
Sorry, this page isn't available
The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed.
It's a freakin' volcano erupting and all we get is a Reuters article without any photo and a link to lame-ass Facebook which doesn't even work?
From its creation until the first bribe. So, at least a few hours.
It looks like someone found out where the Fox News headquarters are.
They really do suck that much, don't they?
Even an interface that requires mouse-over pop-ups to understand is a fail in my book.

The problem is, it seems companies are letting designers do the job of the UI experts.
Moo-moo, moo?
