I've heard that one product made appointments in the current timezone, then when you moved to another timezone it presented the appointments shifted to the original zone. So if you're in New York and make an 8 A.M. appointment in Chicago, go to Chicago, change timezones (one hour earlier), then see the appointment is at 9 A.M.
Don't do that. Differentiate between local and global time.
There are a huge number of holidays. Holiday lists should be in files, with the ability to select and add them to your calendar with annotations (ie, "Company Holiday", "Religious Holiday").
I'd like to add both my company's holiday list and that of my wife's company, with annotations so I know which are whose. And if the company didn't supply a file, I should be able to build the lists and email them to my wife. As this is an iCal app, that capability is undoubtedly there.
You just have it talk to MS Barney until it explodes.

So you're suggesting something like a Wpoison Web Ring. Or some other Wpoison central registry. It's tempting, but then spammers will crawl the list and use it to filter out Wpoison sites.
The Wpoison web generator creates web pages with fake email addresses, and links to itself so a spam web crawler will be trapped within generated pages. Obviously a spam web crawler can be programmed to not be forever trapped, but Wpoison at least provides a trap for the unwary crawler.
I know there are spam reporting systems. Do any of those alert ISPs of the contact addresses contained in spam? So when a spammer uses mail or Web addresses as contact points for victims, that information will quickly be pointed out to the affected ISPs?
Riding a nano-bicycle is much harder than chaining bacteria to benches and oars. One supervisor snapping its flagella and they'll learn quickly enough to keep moving. The necessary breakthrough, flexible carbon tubes for chaining, has already been achieved. Monkey-controlled robots are even now carving tiny oars for the submarines.
Another wireless option is the Ricochet modem. Service is available in several dozen cities in the USA -- higher price, higher data rate than some other devices.
Oh, I know all about the Mir problems. Some of them were equipment problems, but I can't blame Mir for the problems due to that freighter banging into it (well, other than whether it should have been more repairable -- at least Mir let the crew survive that).
The author apparently missed that China intends to go to the Moon. And they're going to use its resources, not just hop down to gather samples.
The Moon has more gravity than an asteroid and fewer heavy metals, but it's much more convenient to reach. And it's a lot easier to launch from the Moon than from Earth.

I'm sure if I gave my fahrenspitzer coils a mailbox they'd get enough credit offers.
At least you won't need electricity, with the window glass and flourescent tubes glowing...
And approximately where in the world are you?
You can see the CNN uptime graph at Netcraft.
Well, Netcraft just started tracking web site downtime.

I'm sorry, I'd rather not talk about it.

Gee, why did all my web pages that I revised twice vanish? Their names all ended in .MP3 for "My Pages, version 3".
At least they'll be able to cure you because they'll know what made you sick: the medicine.

How long until Sony and Honda build enough for a soccer team? The Aibos are already playing, we may as well extend the competition to bipedals.
It's Loose! Run!
