This is America. We judge a man by the form of his penmanship rather than the content of his writings.
Except when the writings refer to
"judgment" (comparison between people is too critical),
"man" (excludes beings who are not men),
"his" (excludes beings who are not men, also implies selfish ownership rather than generous sharing),
"penmanship" (not inclusive of pencils, excludes beings who are not man, excludes transport which are not ships),
and "content" (excludes free verse, excludes proper revolutionary discontent).
Tee hee. Wait until you experience the whole Matrix, with all three movies.
I won't spoil by saying what I saw, but you'll want to view the second movie just before the third, so you can experience the story threads which run through to the third movie. (I have no inside information, I merely spotted the story in M.Reloaded. I think the writers had fun creating this thing.)
A vacuum cleaner hose (duct taped to motherboard?:-) might help keep those shavings from getting misplaced (um.. if there is no place for them, how can they be misplaced?).
Verisign licensed SCO's Unix Source code on Monday...
Fictional news can't beat real headlines: Microsoft Buys SCO Group's Unix
I note that the article text immediately does have the correct information that a non-exclusive license is what was purchased, not all the Unix assets.
(Don't look at me. That "zdnet.com.com" URL is what works. Using just "zdnet.com" fails. CNet runs com.com, and I don't know why the ZDNet site doesn't use the same link structure.)
Nope, you didn't claim it. It's not registered, so I got Slashdot.Org!
Seriously... Are registry services going to see fallout due to having to reverse and refund erroneous.org registrations that their servers processed during the outage? This might also depend upon whether their scripts depend upon the PIR servers, and whether the scripts distinguish between "error" and "domain not registered" conditions.
The inventor of the software which identifies attractive women based on their search behavior gets rich by applying the technology to 82 different fields of industry.
The inventor of the software which behaves in search engines as attractive women behaves gets totally ignored after his brief slashdotting.
"How many times have you met an interesting person, who happened to check out the same book in the library, or listen to the same music as you do?"
Zero times so far. But every day I set my stool in front of that book and watch it to see if someone will check it out. The librarian made me turn off my music, so nobody else listens to the same music as I do.
Not only that, but you probably are surprised to be hearing from me. I need a friend's help in recovering $18 million dollars which my uncle left with a security firm to protect it after a cancelled construction project. From your interest in expensive things I know you also need some assistance, and my uncle is willing to pay you 20 percent and your expenses. We need your Slashdot name and password so we can submit a coded article which the security company's Maytag Repairman will notice and transfer the money to your credit card. Please reply soonest, as the money is in our local currency, which is made of animal crackers and the rainy season is about to begin.
It was Mr. J.C. Penney who seems to have come up with using the pricing to make sales people use the cash register, thus keeping cash away from the pockets of store workers.
Look a little further on the project's web site and you'll see pictures of a high-altitude drop test. The craft unfolded wings and flew in Mars-density air and at the expected speed. The parachute landings also have given NASA some confirmation of how the Mars atmosphere behaves in airflow situations (something a little different than figuring out what gases are in the atmosphere).
Yes. I tried to live without a car in the city. But travel on buses wasted a lot of time, particularly to change direction by waiting for transfers. Shopping was also difficult.
PRT would have taken care of scheduling difficulties, and a folding cart would have let me roll the groceries easily into a vehicle.

Now let's see how many people reply that don't know what that means.
Close your eyes and try browsing by ear. Does that work?
He was only into blue case mods. His specialty was compression and expansion, although with a bend.
Besides, being slashdotted is relative.
"Topical" means use on the surface of the skin.
"On topic" means a post which does not get under your skin.
Oh, dear. I stopped thinking about crashnbur and now he no longer exists.

However, my favorite quote from the SCO news is "teams of lawyers and engineers are scouring the source code"
I think lawyers scouring source code is generally not particularly effective.

Wait a little longer and the sky will fall.

Also, "Jeves Tells", "TunnelVista", "Yohoo, Cousin!", "!YADMOZ", and "LikeUs".

In this case, that's "humans.txt".

Sure, a manned glider mission would be nice. I'm all in favor of some unmanned flights first...

I hope it's not free as in released without driver.
