How do we know that these cables where not edited? From the BBC "Nachiketa Kapur denied the report, saying: "I vehemently deny these malicious allegations. There was no cash to point out to." Satish Sharma told a news channel that he did not even have an aide called Nachiketa Kapur. "I never had and still don't have a political aide," he said. Mr Sharma is described as a "close associate of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi [and] considered to be a very close family friend of [Congress party chief] Sonia Gandhi". The cable said that Mr Kapur also claimed that MPs belonging to regional party Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) had been paid 100 million rupees ($2.5m; £1.5m) each to ensure they voted for the "right way". RLD leader Ajit Singh has denied the charge and said that he was "opposed to the nuclear deal" and his party MPs "voted against the government". These exchanges are alleged to have happened at the time of a controversial deal between India and the US which paved the way for India to massively expand its nuclear power capability."
It should be easy to find ot if this person had such an aid. If you are unwilling to trust the government why are you willing to trust Wikileaks? Just wondering since this leak as far as I can see has no data to support it. And the best way to earn trust would be to release a bunch of leaks unaltered and then when it is worth the risk release an altered one.
I am just wondering if it is wise to take something that is so easy to forge as the truth without verification.
You do not understand that most people have no idea what is fact and what is opinion. For instance do vaccinations cause autism? How many people died because of 3 mile island? Should we worry about the radiation from japan that is now getting to the west coast? Best of all why are you posting this Anonymously? Maybe you are a sock puppet with our own agenda. Actually pretty unlikely but still it is a tool to influence people. It is a much less violent tool than bombs and bullets so I am not all that bothered by it.
Crap? I disagree as to most people. It was a classic. Why does it pain me. Well because most remakes are useless and or terrible. Take Planet of the Apes and The Day the Earth Stood Still as examples. I was already to hate True Grit but from what I hear it was actually good. I hate to be wrong:)
Why is it dishonorable if the stories are true? People do not understand that propaganda does not have to be lies and frankly the best propaganda is the truth.
If you like Firefly you really should see the orignal True Grit and The Outlaw Jose Wales. True Grit really did have that same style of dialog. Firefly was a good show. I just watched all the episodes and I really liked it. But it wasn't all that fresh or ground breaking. But that may be just a side effect of age.
Well maybe people should watch the "Outlaw Jose Wales", The orignal "True Grit", and some of the other westerns. I do need to see the new True Grit. As much as it pains me I heard that it was actually good.
No I Robot didn't just very from the book it had nothing to do with the book! It is like they made a move of Dune but everyone was mermaids and they had pet worms that where this size of beagles. Just change the name and keep Asimov's name off it.
That is because of your terrible education system. Actually I have heard people in the US say that they would be doing the same thing. It is really bad that people are just reacting with mind-numbing fear. I had a friend of mine say that this is why she will always be anti nuclear power than accused me of being heartless. The thing is that the reports are that a worker got a 10 rad dose. Not good because it is twice what you should get in a year. Thing is that a 10 rad does means that your chance of health issues like cancer increase by under 1%. She had all the workers having terminal cancer in ten years. I really hope they get the reactors back under control but I swear that the our news services have become the a theater of terror.
What is the problem with people. Transformers was a movie based on a kids cartoon about giant robots that can turn into cars and planes. Just what did you expect? I actually thought it was going to be much worse than it was. I found it as enjoyable for what it was. When are are talking about movies in general most books just do not make great movies. How can you possibly fit a huge book into a movie. As far as the science fiction fan boys go. Get over it. Just like any other book made into a movie you will hate them. Even Bladerunner was only sort of based on Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. I suggest you just wait and see and try to enjoy them for what they are which is movies. I will admit that the movie I, Robot does make me want to commit murder. I have never seen it but the trailers where enough to make me say "WHAT!" As a reader of Science fiction I long ago came to the conclusion that I will never see a move based on. The Uplift books, Known Space, Asmiov's Robots or Federation universe that do not make want cringe.
And of course just to tick everybody off I must ask one question. Why do people get all worked up over Firefly? I enjoyed it and wish it had keep running but it wasn't really hard science fiction. Frankly it was "The Outlaw Jose Wales" in space. That isn't a bad thing but people get so worked up over it.
I mean is there any better example of a mega corp than Entertainment? They have all sorts of laws that only benefit them. They really do seem to think that laws don't apply to them and they make money hand over fist.
That of course includes the cable companies.
Pretty much. Here is an example of what they will probably hate. I can only get one network channel on my TV. BTW I suggest everybody get a cheap antenna and see what you can get. OTA HD is so much better than what you pay the cable company for. My mother in law lives in the Dallas area and gets all of them. I was thinking of sending her a Slingbox and having her hook it up and then streaming to my house. My cable bill is over $100 a month and I do not even get HBO! A sling box would pay for it's self in just a few months.
If you are going to contract with a sip provider then why have this project? If you really want to do computer to computer communications why not use Jabber? It is already an open standard and has been adopted by both Google and Facebook. There are a large number of Jabber servers that are open to the public as well.
His suggestion about the police and SWAT are way off. A lot of SWAT calls are not "criminals" They are people that snap. Also a lot of crime is caused by people getting drunk and stupid. Sure you may push the drug dealers to right outside of town so people will just go outside of town to make their buys. Same as to day when they go to the "bad" section of town. So you will cut down on breaking and entering and car theft but that is about it. I just do not have a lot of faith technological solutions to social problems. Now if you want to test the tech involved might I suggest using an aircraft carrier? They have the population of a good sized town and do not have tones of visitors. Instead of chipping the crew chip their id tags. You could do the same thing with other military bases as well. Like most things I doubt that it would be as good or as bad as people think.
Who will pay for the pots interface? Will they create a billing system so people can add a POTS interface to their system and make some cash? That is the issue. It takes money to interface to POTS. That is why Skype charges for it.
This is supposed to be a peer to peer system. Which makes me wonder how will it interface with POTS or will it just be an internet only system. In which case why not just use voice chat over any number of jabber clients? Of course you are correct in one really important way. It would be dumb to not develop a plug in for Asterisk for this. You can buy a Skype gateway for Asterisk now.
I think that is unfair. I myself am not a web developer. Every now and then I will so some coding to help out our web team but it is not my profession. Of course since you are an AC and probably have delusions of grandeur sitting in your first c class I should probably just consider the source.
And he would have tight control on cell phones as well. Like North Korea and Cuba does. Sure the IBM pc would have been allowed. The Apple II never! A mega corp under that government's control is okay. The C-64 really would have been there worst nightmare. BBSs every where and on in every bedroom. Printers would have also been tightly controlled.
It will not be the first or the last time. I swear everybody needs to read A Tale of Two Cities.
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only."
Or as the Talking Heads said, "Same as it ever was."
Unless you write websites. Talk about being closed minded. Kind of like the people that will not use free anti-virus because it can not be good if it is free. Have you tried IE9? If you are on Windows Vista or seven you probably should try it. If you work on websites you should use it for testing just like you use Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera... You do test with all the available browsers don't you?
I still use mainly chrome and Firefox but I sure as shooting have tried out IE9. It wasn't bad at all just not better than Chrome for my day to day use. That and it doesn't work on XP which I still use as along with Linux, W7, and OS/X
But Stalin would also have loved computers. They are the perfect tool of big brother. I mean really folks here is a news flash for everybody. Technology can be used for good or for evil. Jet aircraft can fly people to hospitals where they can get treatment or carry bombs. The printing press can be used for the Bible, Penthouse, Mien Kampf, and text books. I will let you all argue over which is and is not evil. And a cell phone can be used to call for help when you car is stranded or if you are hurt.
And the internet can be used to view websites like Godhatesfags, slashdot, whitehouse.gov and REI.com. Again you can pick which of those is evil and which is good.
Welcome to the real world. Many things can be used for good and evil. That is just the way of the universe. Oh and China is pushing Linux! EVIL!!!!!!!
I have to agree. I signed up for "Unlimited" internet. The only cap should be MAX bandwidthX24x7 use. It doesn't matter both parties are so in far in the back pockets of the telecoms and "Entertainment" that we will be screwed.
"If you are an existing developer of client apps, you can continue to serve your user base, but we will be holding you to high standards to ensure you do not violate users’ privacy, that you provide consistency in the user experience, and that you rigorously adhere to all areas of our Terms of Service. We have spoken with the major client applications in the Twitter ecosystem about these needs on an ongoing basis, and will continue to ensure a high bar is maintained. " Sound like they are just setting some standards.

In other news Sony has taken down the servers for Final Fantasy to help save power...
Yeah and duh.
