  1. Re:Depends on Who is Responsible? The Developer? The User? · · Score: 2

I agree... There are programs that can be used for either means. l0pht comes to mind. As a System Adminstrator this is a very helpful tool for testing password security and getting into boxes of an ex-employee (sometimes disgruntled), however in the wrong hands it can be a dangerous thing. The guys at l0pht are not to blame because they provide a service.

The guy who writes a malicious virus is another story. Both the coder and the user in this case are equally at fault. I'd be hardpressed to find a useful reason for a virus. It causes trouble for end users and even more trouble for admins who have to keep track of them, clean them, repair the damage, prevent them from returning and explain to the client what it was in the first place and why.

RH 6.0 It's in the story.

I forget where I read it, but I believe statistics show that a vast majority of Internet servers are UNIX (or some flavor thereof) which leads to the rest of the pack running NT to make sure that they're patched for Y2K.

Then there's the hardware side of it and I'm fairly confident in CISCO.

  4. Re:Keanu Reeves... on Neuromancer: The Movie · · Score: 1

Agreed... as was his character in Permanent Vacation...but very little.

He acts the same...some REALLY good movies, but just a bad acting job. The MATRIX was an AWESOME flick, but Keanu's acting ranks right up there...or should I say down there with William Shatner. Talk about an overactor (sorry to all you lame trekkies out there).

  5. Say NO to Keanu Reeves... on Neuromancer: The Movie · · Score: 1

Neuromancer has Long been a favorite of mine. Like most I was highly excited and then hugely disappointed by 'Johnny Mnemonic'; although the soundtrack Rocked. So much so that I found myself defending the brilliance of William Gibson by having people read the shorts of 'The Burning Chrome'.

I'm sure we can all know who to expect to be cast as Case . . . Keanu. Especially on the heels of 'The Matrix'; another in this genre with a kick-ass soundtrack. PLEASE, NO KEANU REEVES. Talk about one dimensional actors. Every one of his characters are EXACTLY THE SAME.

Maybe Neuromancer as a full length animation?

I love it....although I still think that Derek Jeter deserved the start at SS over Nomar...but hey, I'm biased being a lifelong Yankee fan from NY.

  7. Sounds Like 'Snow Crash' on Sony Announces Robotic Dog · · Score: 2

Hmm. Robot Dogs? Somehow I keep seeing the Rat Dogs from Neil Stephenson's 'Snow Crash'. I'm sure he'd get chills seeing this come to reality.

...and Neil, if you're reading this (as we all know you're a slashdot reader)... 2 thumbs up for that book.
