You have to remember that that source includes the win32 source, the mac source, and the linux source, as well as the qt (I think? It's in the./configure), motif and xlib ports of mozilla. It adds up =].
Well, it currently gobbles about the same as communicator, but I've heard that memory consumption will be brought down when it is more stable. Good news I hope:).
Although previously, the linux version seemed to be lagging behind the win32 one, it has improved greatly between M11, and M12.
1. It is way, way, way more stable, and is reaching the point where I can go for around 1.5-2 hours without a crash.
2. The speed of the rendering is much faster, the incremental reflow is much better, and can be tuned with some pref editing, and the scrolling no longer has that ugly grey!:-).
I'm happy to say, that the day the stable Mozilla is released, it'll make us all proud. The amount of fixes and speed increases seem to be accelerating quite quickly.
Congrats to the mozilla team.
Please remember to post bug reports too =]. They say on the page, that finding and documenting the bug is half the work.
will obligate all sectors of the Brazilian Government - agencies, public corporations, et cetera - . There is no mention of forcing non government businesses to use non-free software.
I'm pretty sure that you can do this with a licq plugin. I've seen it done before.. icq -> email gateway, and because it's email, it can also allow you to read messages on a pager.
It should be possible with freemware, and it already is possible with vmware... you have to use the drive 'raw', and make sure that the partition isn't mounted at the time. That said, read the docs, it should be there.
Ok, now that there is a new release, I won't have any qualms putting open bsd on my 486 for NAT. I like the idea of an ultra secure firewall for everday browsing;-).
Actually most people supported MS on their actions on that event. It was however the fact that ms only wanted it when it was to their advantage, and would not like it the other way around.
Actually, the writer (ryan dahl (four) of gnap, was asked to take gnap offline because of issues with 'flooding'. However, gnap cannot yet even chat (a function I do not even like in the first place). After much deliberation, Ryan decided to keep the project open source rather than keep as binaries until the issues were resolved. IMPORTANT NOTE: gnap is in pre-alpha release form. Do not use it unless you want it to crash far more than what is acceptable. It will be, however, in the future, a really well written gnome napster client.
Plus there is the double dilemma of having the company send bogus results, sabotaging the project, and also using the program to their advantage to add to their databases.
Well. I think that basically mozilla should be aiming for a MTBF of days with the first real release. Considering it isn't a finished product costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, the one hour MTBF is actually pretty good.
Well this is actually the cost of a GST for Australia. In order to get the last 'vital' vote from a politition for a tax which sucks, they had to allow this legislation to pass. pah. Australia sucks at times. (Though I do, however, like the reverse engineering law =)
I've heard that the gnome project, whom prides themselves on free software, are actually thinking about integrating the raptor rendering engine into their browser.. so it must be a legal/legit thing. =)
Get the libc5 version rather than the glibc version. There is a problem with memory allocation on the glibc version which causes it to 'bus error'. Gettting the libc5 version fixed _all_ my problems.
I plan to make a simple interface with glade when the html render is 'released'. Just for personal browsing though, and something quick without lots of features (features == macho memory). I believe the gnome project is going to use the mozilla rendering engine for their html renderer too.
Now I know the alsa team are making a lot of progress, but what if redhat bought opensound and freed it? That would mean a hell of a lot more sound support for linux, something that every distro desparately needs. Just a thought.
Wow, you mean that was only 10% of their stock. Cygnus has a _way_ higher income than RedHat too, and as everything that redhat has done has been open, this is a Good Thing. (I still hope most that they open their compiler though:).

Ok, the mozilla argument didn't quite help your case. Mozilla _is_ a success. Fullstop.

Actually, the author has decided to never make it open source..
I will reiterate. they are not suing . Sheeesh.

And as someone else said: you want tommorow's browser today!1. XUL is good. Trust me.
2. You can use the engine.. for your own browser. It will be done.
3. Mozilla does not memory leak that badly, and it's getting better.
4. Now is unreasonable. However alpha will lead to more uptake and as a result, more bug reports / fixes.

Cmon. This is criterea for an alpha version.. lighten up. It'll get more stable later. sheesh.
Users win of course! Choice. *grin*
Heard of PC anywhere? It does basically the same thing... remote usage/admin of a computer.. Definitely not like wine nor vmware.
I've heard that the gnome project, whom prides themselves on free software, are actually thinking about integrating the raptor rendering engine into their browser.. so it must be a legal/legit thing. =)
Ok, here goes.. stop winging and just get junkbuster .
