Actually, I get what they're saying just fine. I just don't think their statement has any real value. Even if we ignore the fact that comparing total downloads between XBL and iTunes isn't relevant, and we ignore the fact that XBL didn't hit 10m any faster, there's still the fact that these are two network services started approximately 4 years apart after a great deal of consumer training done on the part of apple and others. Hitting 10m at the 4 month mark simply doesn't have the same impact as it did 4 years ago.
(Disclaimer: I use and like both itunes and XBL, but saying that something that just hit 10m downloads is more popular than something that just passed 1b is ridiculous.)
Since Finux was the principal operating system used by the characters in the book, I needed some creative leeway to have the fictitious operating system as used by the characters be different in minor ways from the real operating system called Linux. Otherwise I would receive many complaints from Linux users pointing out errors in my depiction of Linux. This is why Batman works in Gotham City, instead of New York--by putting him in Gotham City, the creators afforded themselves the creative license to put buildings in different places, etc.
Are you sure that it's in fact the same JVM that they were talking about in the press release? There's no mention of it being the project formerly known as spotless. Furthermore they mention a project known as KJava, which also seems to be unreleated to spotless. I played with spotless for a while, and it's kind of neat, but I really don't think it's going to be the Java2ME unless there have been _alot_ of changes in the last month or so.

Talk to me when XBL has a billion downloads...
Apple iTunes downloads passes 1 billion songs(Disclaimer: I use and like both itunes and XBL, but saying that something that just hit 10m downloads is more popular than something that just passed 1b is ridiculous.)

why Office 98 for the mac is one of the best programs that Microsoft makes!
I mean, really. There is very little motivation for a company like Microsoft to waste it's time on the Linux market.
Chalk it up to yet another hoax on the internet...
