  2. I don't know for sure, so I'm just asking. Did he sold the disks alone? 1) If he sold them separathe of the computers, yes, he did commit piracy. 2) If he reinstalled the computers with the downloadble ISOs and merely adjunted a physical copy on disk, it should not be, whenever he burned them on one by one, or used a mass duplication service. 3) If he fiddled with the disks to make them one of those multi-brand install disks that are running around internet, the crime sould not be piracy, but counterfeiting. There are refurbishing licenses if he wanted to do that legally. 4) If the merely distributed official OEM images, then he did nothing bad, and I'm pretty sure a tech service would you demand less than 25$ to do that for you, ignorant luser. After all, following that judge reasoning, I should be able to sue Microsoft because my old laptop did only include an image restoring disk, and no setup disk when I bought it. Since Microsoft sued as the affected, it does mean that they are recognicing themselves as the responsable of said disks and licenses instead of the PCs manufacturers. So, if an old XP did not include them, should not Microsoft pay me back the 25$ for the disk they cheated me of? And I want the money or a physical item, no digital downloads that can dissapear in a few years, thank you.

Which is incredibly stupid. It should be making newer, more efficient, safer reactors and retire the old ones. The problem is, at least in Europe, that the power corps do not want to invest so heavily without gubernamental support. They rather churn cheaper natural gas plants, and cash some small grants for using cleaner sources than coal. They give more benefits, sooner, and with less investment. Yet natural gas it is mainly inported from Russia. And in Spain case, we have barely any strategic reserves, due to another public construction mess. And politic parties do not comitt to invest on nuclear, and do put plenty of difficulties to new power companies to shell, benefitting the bigger, older energy cartels. And power corps do their best to scam customers with all the new billing plans that are designed to be as expensive as possible. I think is awesome the chinese are learning from our mistakes and planning for the future. They are not implementing perfect solutions, true, but are advancing there. I wish someone in the west did instead of thinking only in their reelections, or future post as "adviser" as repayment for the kickbacks they give to the power corps.

  5. Re:All french everywhere on France Says 'Au Revoir' to the Word 'Smartphone' (smithsonianmag.com) · · Score: 1

As a Spanish speaker from Spain itself, we have got even worse because we get barbarisms from both English and French, usually 50-50, while latin-americans tend to get 90/10, and mangling the English a lot in the process to boot. On the other side, they tend to use derivative words better, or at least in a more regular way that here in Europe.

I'm not going to start with examples, because that is a whole new discurssion. If you are interested just look for 'coche' vs 'carro'. While it will show you the differences, it will not be able to explain the why.

Also, a few notes of why they seemed to have failed this year even more than usual:

    • Leaving internet untranslated? Mon dieu! Souldn't it be 'inter-réseau'? or 'Internet', because if you treat it as a proper noun or brand, and not translate it, it should be uppercased.
    • 'le mobile multifonction' keeps implying the word 'téléphone' anyway, making it a mouthful. Using it as a noun will make every french think in a multi-tool of some kind, and everyone else in those scanner/printer/fax hybrids.
Also, i've yet to find the 'smart' part in smartphones. A old Nokia dumbphone would last five years and need to be charged twice a week. My 'smartphone' will barely last two, and needs to be charged twice a day.
On the other hand, I can play CandyCrush instead of Snake. Oh, decisions, decisions.
    • I agree with 'joueur' because, well, I hate the word gamer. Come on, people! It's player, player! As in "videogame player". You don't see me calling you pizzaer, hamburgerer, or fish-and-chipper depending on your dinner. As in 'I have dinner' or 'I dine alone', no 'I'm the lone dinnerer'.

    How about 'joueur-phone'? ;-D
