Hooray, Linux kernel x.x.x is released so why the big uproar? No this is not to start a flame war or troll about, but think about this for a second, Linux is releasing kernel revisions daily, yet Linux users complain about Windows fallacies on this subject and on that one, yet its Linux coming out with constant revisions and patches (which to me are equivalent to MS service packs or updates) yet no news is posted when Windows releases a patch.
Now for the majority of Linux users here, do you guys honestly buy that much hardware, that you have to download every single kernel rev that comes out? I've used Linux for years now and have went on letting kernel patches go up without download 20mb of the latest beta kernels, and had my systems running just fine, without incidents, proving that a kernel rev is nothing newsworthy.
I understand about promoting something you enjoy shit I do it all the time, but its not as if every time Linux releases a newer kernel that it has done something that requires such groundbreaking news, or even more than a minutes worth of overlooking
Anyways I'll see this -2 soon by Linux advocates, I think a slew of people just download the latest to try to look cool... uname -a (wow)
Personally I say a consortium should be created in order to monitor (fully monitor) patents and some of the broad circumstances in which the patents claim. Government is no good at monitoring private sector businesses and this has been proven time and time again.
Now can government be trusted to fully monitor whats going on, when some government employees who are on a time based scale of employment look forward to moving into the private sector, often taking jobs at these corporations who's patents they pass along merrily? It happened with the chemical industry.
Framework for the non profit could include, committee members who are voted into the corporation, just like a politician so there can be no form of monopolization. Patents would have to pass a rigorous full proof dissection to ensure fairness in the open market segments before being
given a patent number.
This is whats happening in the justice system regarding technology based cases. Many people can scream and bitch on forums, to friends, etc., about the abuses going on in the justice system, but here is what it comes down to when dealing with the justice system.
Court Jury of peers Highly unlikely 90% of the time the jury will be comprised of people who do not have any understanding of whats going on fully. These people are purposely selected by both lawyers, and the prosecution, depending on how they intend to fight the case. If the prosecution's job is to win by hiding facts about
technology they'll option to choose as many e-illiterate jurors as they can and vice versa.
Lengthy trials
Jurors don't want to sit through boring trials such as these, and this combined with jurors that don't have a clue are a ticking timebomb set to explode in a very bad fashion. They will not look at any of the evidence, and rather they'd just wanna hurry up and go back to watching Oprah, Martha Stewart, and CBS.
Finances
Company X's resources are 1billion dollars for their legal teams while Defendant is almost dirt poor.
Companies who are bringing these patent suits should be held liable to pay for the entire trial along with damages for attempting to manipulate the legal system. Hefty fines should be imposed on them which could be used for research into the patenting system and its mechanisms.
After a week lacking internet access, the company I work for could possibly cease to exist.
Then you my friend are working for a company with no managerial insights. Ever hear of Disaster management?
Our clients, without the service we provide, would also face the danger of catostrophic damages.
They too then have issues for not having a backup plan.
Companies, no matter what you think, are made of people, and people rely on their employment to provide food, money, and shelter.
This must be a new sort of business created being that 15 years ago the Internet was nothing. Wait... if your business did exist then, how did it carry out its business?
To answer your question, the person getting hurt is you, when my newly unemployed coworkers kill you for your shiny gold watch.
Highly doubtable ther "brutha" not where I'm from... Ever notice why school shootings never occur in New York City? Well the answer is simple, if a student pulls out a gun, another student will pull out a bigger one...

My condolences, care to send me their addresses I'll gladly call 911 and have an ambulance over to their house immediately. This is what a contract is for, you know, contract, the things that obligates a vendor to provide a service... As stated, those customers should legally go about getting their refunds, FYI no one is getting hurt, maybe their feelings are, but if you can tell me ONE INSTANCE WHERE THE INTERNET IS A NECCESSITY WHERE SOMEONE COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT IT, then I'll forever shut the fuck up, if not your trolling, as am I for responding to your moronic post with a moronic rebuttal.
MSN: Captain for get us to radio connection
DSL: You'll get never for our DSL lines
MSN: Warning you we be for the last time
DSL: What for are you to do
MSN: ALL YOUR DSL ARE BELONG TO...
They did give proper warning from what I've seen on their website, and its a week old. Sure it may not be enough but they did give warning so this shouldn't have come to no surprise to anyone.
At this point it is clear that the sale process to which we have dedicated much effort has not yielded long term financing, or a strategic partnership that will allow NorthPoint to continue its current level of operations. As a result, the cessation of services to our customers and the complete shut down of our network is imminent. We will take the following steps: 1) effective immediately all pending orders will be held until further notice and 2) effective March 23, 2001 we will no longer accept new orders and will cease all new service installations. We urge you to take immediate action to secure alternate services for your needs.
If I had their service, I would demand a refund or start a group and bitch to their partners, anyone as a matter of principle. For those who are owed the full month if they had paid, or paid for yearly service. Not to be the bearer of bad news, but its users were warned, and unless you don't keep up to date with the services your purchasing then your no better than Northpoint is for not minding what your money is going to...
On GSLV Dr Kasturirangan said ISRO would initially launch its own communication satellites by using the GSLV with indigenously developed cryogenic engines. It would save India more than $20m per launch. Arianespace, one of the major international space players, charges up to $70m for a satellite launch.
At this rate, they can afford to crash a few more before it'd be like paying someone else to launch a rocket. NASA had its ups and down when it took off and finally they were able to get someone on the moon. (using hollywood style technology). Hey at least India has the director of the 6th Sense to whip up the effects.
On Canada
Correction, correction! The name of the country is not "Kanada,"
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOOT
"http://www.mirrentry.com posted videos (finally) but it doesn't seem to be the footage from the planes rather captured from a video camera on the
ground." Knave trickery, but just as well, since none are available in a Linux-friendly format right now:(
Mir's descent was fast as hell and even the captured footage of it looks like a streak of fire nothing glamorous. However if you need some kicks, and we all know APRIL FOOLS is just a tick tock away.... Check out the "Hidden Casualties of Mir" -- what the governments won't tell you...
The simple fact about everything2 is that while it is an interesting place, and a fascinating
community, the ecology of any online community ultimately destroys it as a source of reliable information.
I definitely would like to know where you obtained this (dis)information from. Could it be an out of date sociology book, or could it be that a new technology pushing its way into a new form of cultured life puzzles, disturbs, fascinates, upsets (take your pic) you. Or is this based on say... Fact like 1 + 1 = 2? I keep wondering why one drop of water plus one drop of water only gives me one drop of water anyways...
This means that anything said there must be taken with a pinch of salt.
Anything said in life must be taken with one grain of salt no matter where its coming from, and judging an entire community whether its an online one or physical one based upon bad experience is not good judgement. Thats like saying that 3 black people who robbed you account for all blacks being robbers, or 3 caucasian embezzlers make all whites embezzlers. You have a stran9e view on things for a sociology major.
Furthermore, it has its own 'Karma Whore' equivalents, people who are trying to gain 'experience' and status as a result. It is full of ultimately banal information.
Life is filled with Karma whores... Take your brown nosing co worker or classmate...
Secondly, the females there are pretty awful - the average female uses the internet to affirm real life relationships, not to make new relationships. Females who post to online communities are usually rather strange creatures, desperate for some sort of attention.
Maybe its pessimistic morons who make them dread asking things in public, maybe they want an opinion coming from someone in an entirely social status than they're accustomed to.
This is why the e2 females cluster around the sex topics.
Yes sire for you know everything in this world.
Having said all that, e2 definately is interesting. It is just not reputable or useful.
It has fun, but no utility.
At least you can actually get an EV68, as opposed to the vapor ultrasparcIII, which has yields approaching zero and doesn't even come close to the performance of any EV6 (but you knew that since you base your decisions on FACTS like benchmarks).
Vaporware? Or Oversoldware? I would rather oversell stock than have shit lying around, as for EV6's why in the world would I want a shitty compaq if I were going to buy a supercomputer? Shit for that I'd save for ASCII White Jr. or something, I still wouldn't go with DEC/Compaq.
Ahhh......... IBM SP Power 3 Winterhawk II my kind puting power
hey clueboy. The Sun is just a front end. It could have been almost anything, but Sun no doubt cut them a better deal than any other vendors, to get excellent marketing.
Either way you cut the cake Sun still got in. What would you rather have had AMD, Intel make chips for a Cray? Give me a break. They could have gotten a better deal on chips from SGI who sold them Cray from the get go and thats a given, so what makes you think they didn't do specs on it as well?
"See? UltraIIIs are fast! You can stop making fun of how slow our chips are now! UltraIIIs are fast enough to be associated with (lots of hand waving) CRAY'S NEW SUPERCOMPUTER!" -- Sun marketing.
Stick to whatever your day job is. When it comes to purchasing equipment (which I have many of times) I would go for what I felt was best, based on benchmarks, industry usage, etc., not some marketing bullshit so give it a rest.
You sound upset that Sun has captured this segment of business from Cray, I'm happy for them as I am for most companies that do well. As for Cray its a bit outrageous unless your a government or major fortune500, but I do use, own, and plan on purchasing more Sun hardware including a SunBlade workstation for home use, regardless of what people think. Sure their expensive, but well worth it, and Alpha's just couldn't cut it all the time so what other options are there? Wait... Maybe I should sit back and wait for you to make a chip, hows that?
Supercomputer stalwart Cray announced a deal to use new Sun Microsystems servers in a design the company will begin selling later this year.
Wow this is actually even better news for Sun in my opinion than it would be for Cray. See with Cray's decision to go with UltraIII's, it means that apparently Sun has the firepower to deliver (this I already knew) which could mean a showdown for Sun's newest lines of servers which are slated to give HP and others runs for their money
7:20am: Elite hax0r wakes up to prepare for another challenging day of 7th grade.
7:25: Elite hax0r signs onto AOL (computer is never turned off)
7:30: Elite hax0r checks new mail for elite hacking progs and warez
7:40: After 10 minutes of chatting in with the folks in leet, elite hax0r's mom takes the telephone off the hook.
7:55: m0m and elite hax0r are having an argument about wasted time online.
8:00: elite hax0r's dad drops him off at Mitnick Middle School
8:05: elite hax0r enters typing class. this is his elite hacking playground, and he loves to confuse the teacher by pressing num lock,
and shouting '3y3 hax0red j00!!!'
9:00: typing class is over, and elite hax0r travels to his history class. No 'puters here, so, he strategically places his copy of 2600
inside his history book and memorizes the 'how to steal stuff' article.
9:30: history teacher catches elite hax0r with the clandestine 2600 and takes it away from him. elite hax0r begins a
heart-wrenching speel about freedom of speech, and his right as a citizen of this country to read his elite 2600 whenever he
pleases. he compares this atrocity to the unjust imprisonment of hax0rs everywhere, and takes comfort in his martyrdom. leet is
definitely hearing about this tonight.
10:05: elite hax0r goes to english.
10:50: elite hax0r goes to lunch period. here, he sits with his class in the cafeteria and takes his usual spot near the lunchlady's
cashregister so he can write down people's lunch numbers. This comes in handy, as they could possibly use their lunch number as
their AOL password. And if not, its always really leet to have even the most insignificant 1nph0z.
11:25: elite hax0r goes to pre algebra. today, he makes the kid in the desk next to him ph33r when he types 1134 on the calculator
and holds it upside down. he wonders if this is similar to hacking an LED sign like in 2600..?
12:15: elite hax0r goes to science class where he learns about the reproductive system. elite hax0r excuses himself from class where
he performs a quick wetware hack.
1:30: elite hax0r gathers his books and stands in front of the school
1:35: elite hax0r is picked up by the small yellow bus with the power lift on the back.
2:00: elite hax0r is dropped off at home, and he rushes inside to sign on and check his mail.
2:30: after 30 minutes online, elite hax0r is forced to sign off and take a nap. Ms. Hax0r cant have her baby getting cranky.
4:45: elite hax0r wakes up, and begins writing his manifesto, which he plans to present to his history teacher tomorrow.
4:47: elite hax0r gets tired of writing and feels like going outside. he and his little brother ride their bikes around in circles in the
carport.
5:15: Ms. Hax0r calls the children inside for dinner.
6:00: hax0r children finish dinner, and elite hax0r asks for permission to get online and hack some stuff.
6:05: elite hax0r battles AOL's perpetual busy signal; its probably just a ploy by AOL to block him from coming online, in ph33r he
might hax0r their network.
7:05: elite hax0r continues to hax0r away at AOL's "busy signal"
7:30: finally, elite hax0r crax0rs the busy signal and sneaks his way inside. He checks his mail for leet progs and tries to enter pr
'leet'. But, in another attempt by AOL to bring him down, the room is full (its really just their $3cur1ty 3xp3rt$ trying to keep him
out).
7:40: elite hax0r finally busts into 'leet' in 137 tries.
he chats with his homies.
8:00: elite hax0r is still chatting with the leets, when Ms. Hax0r picks up the fux0ring telephone and signs him offline.
8:35: after 20 minutes of crax0ring the "busy signal", in an angered retalliation attempt, elite hax0r steals mom's credit cards and
scrolls them in 'leet' and 'phreak'.
9:00: elite hax0r finally finishes scrolling, and takes some time to work on his webpage;
http://members.aol.com/Leethax0r/index.html. Here, he posts his new hax0r's manifesto, and lists $houtoutZ to his homies in 'leet'
and 'punt', and his main chix0r Annie.
10:00: after an hour of figuring out how to use the AOL webpage software, he grows tired of all this brain work, and signs offline.
10:25: leet hax0r brushes his teeth, puts on his kevin mitnick pajamas, and goes to sleep.
11:00: leet hax0r dreams that he is Dade Murphy, and that he is having wild sex0r with Acid Burn, while hacking the FBI's Main
Gibson.
11:03 a.m. Open up one of my new Yahoo accounts through an untraceable NetZero account.
Uh... And how do you suppose your gonna dial into it?
I use www.anonymizer.com to go to the Yahoo account because I'm paranoid. Hell if anyone's going to get my IP (Internet address). Screw the Feds, they are lazy they won't trace me back that far.
Uh... subpoena Anonymizer for logs (by law they have to keep them) then timestamp the occurances...
Plus I got *67 on, they'll need subpoenas to, and a ton of tracing to even get close to me. By then I'll have a new number. Hell, I go through telephone lines about one every 2-3 months.
Uhh... No matter how many times you change your number, there is always a record
If I'm super paranoid, I skip Anonymizer
and hack me a Wingate. Then the Feds will trace back to one of the lamers' home computers not mine;) LOL! Basically if I use a Wingate they can't track me at all! I should use gates more often;( Hell I'm getting almost as lazy as a Fed. Ha!
Boy is this moron sure dumb
Seems to me like the only thing he "hacked" was some dumb ass reported who was an ass enough to get conned into thinking this e-tard was anyone special or had any talent other than bullshitting.
The media is going ballistic on "hacker" cases these past few months, and I'm starting to think they should be held accountable for promoting this activity, especially when you pay someone to do this (basically).
The media has totally bastardized hacking and those in the computer security field like the hackers at companies like @stake, Neohapsis.com, etc, end up getting bad reputations from morons like this. Its a shame to think people actually pay mind to idiots like this often casting dark shadows on to those that "hack" for just cause, such as fixing issues, e.g., Rain Forest Puppy, DugSong, obecian, etc..
libfaim was blocked for a couple of days then as well, and thanks to adam's insight and hard work we got back on.
Your summing up my arguements for me...
So is AOL wrong for disallowing other clients from taking revenue away from them (AOL) if so please give me one good factual based reason on:
How doesn't this take away from AOL's pockets, when your using their resources (bandwidth, tech support dollars when servers go bonkers from overloads, etc.)?
What was this "insight" and work around that led you to again... use their (AOL's) resources?
You seem to be missing my points in my posts, and fuck no I'm not for AOL in any shape form or fashion, the facts remain, AOL has to pay for your clients, when they shouldn't.
ipf block in on all from any to any port = AIM_PORT
ipf pass in on 152.0.0.0 to any port = AIM_PORT
Turn around and say they need to block certain ip address ranges for security concerns, then what will people say they're lying?
If it were your service and you were losing revenue you would be just as pissed as AOL. I have a better solution though, why not just unpatent everything and live in an unbalanced state of chaos? This way if someone steals from you, you have no right to complain, however if you do the same, same rules apply no one can say nothing. As it stands if I steal something from you its a crime, and vice versa, so should we be barbarians or just deal with whats in front of us?
And the list goes on and on. One of the measures you guys should try to take, is follow on AOL's steps to make money on their client and offer some sort of revenue generating scheme for AOL in an effort to have them allow you to use their services (bandwidth, connection to their servers, etc.), maybe your team should code an exact replica and allow AOL to pay you for the revisional code to allow *nix based clients to use the IM, this way AOL could continue to spam people with their messages, (banner revenue generation bs), and since its open sourced the typical geek would know how to chop this up.
This way AOL is happy they continue to gain revenue by selling ad space via GAIM, FAIM, etc., while you guys continue to provide your products, and make some side money off of it. Don't expect however AOL to just sit by pay for your programs bandwidth, then lose money while they own the servers your clients to connect to. Its not feasbile in a business sense and downright stupid.
I would doubt that the actual MD5 sums taken from that exe are protected under any copywright.
Sounds like digitally stealing to me.
Therefore, could we not have a server process as part of every jabber server that includes a request mechanism for getting the md5 sum for whatever version of aim.exe is current? Then, the server operator on his or her own downloads the aim.exe in question and stores it with their server. The server process can provide any needed MD5 sum to any of it's clients by directly examining this file.
There was this court case I read about in which a defendant states that investigators looked over his shoulders to see the password he was typing which did not violate his right to privacy, pretty sneaky eh?... So how is this not as sneaky? Your stealing resources from AOL (bandwidth isn't free) which they specifically don't approve of, so whats the difference between your thoughtcrime, and that of a criminal including the investigators who attempted to "go around" the law?
While you worry about a game, I worry about NASDAQ, IPO's, fractions when the bell tolls on Wall Street, so while my ISP delivers the content I need, and my bank account gets heavier, keep fragging on.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Now that you mention it though, I'd like to see how your solution would fly when on a business trip on an airplane. Oh those telco wires at 30,000 feet, how fast they zoom that data through don't they
The article started nicely but then it went in to a flurry of Akamai marketing BS.
Sure Akamai does some neat stuff, but so does a company called Edgix, which does it via satellite to an ISP bypassing the need to go through hops upon hops of information. What I found neat about Edgix' technology was (although this post sounds like a marketing ploy) they sell their caching servers which poll the most sought after websites' content then cache it hourly, daily, whatever. Then when someone looks something up, it pulls it directly off of the ISP's server which means faster content delivery.
But you don't see me interviewing their staff in attempts for them to flood an article while masquerading as an interview do you?
Not only that but it does this on a satellite based mechanism which means if Globix, UUNet, Exodus, Level3 all blow up, you'll still get a cached slashdot without routes being broken, and a slew of timeout errors.
Well... At least I got to see where he went to school though, such an informative interview.
Holography also have other uses; they enable radiologists to interact with the data that have been collected by scanners and they may facilitate the production of "what if' images which some surgeons have found useful in surgical planning. Programs have concentrated on the parts of the body and the kinds of conditions (i.e., tumors, trauma, and vascular abnormalities) that are commonly examined with CT and MR scanners.
Studies were designed to determine if the digital holography systems would allow diagnosis of conditions that are extremely difficult or impossible to detect with existing technology; provide for more accurate and comprehensive diagnosis and understanding of conditions that are difficult characterize fully with existing technology; increase the radiologist's confidence in the diagnosis made; reduce the time required to arrive at a diagnosis; facilitate communication of relevant information; improve surgical planning; and allow for more fully informed patient consent to treatment.
FBI officials have arrested Paul "Paulie Packets" Pastarelli for running one of the biggest internet packet bookie rings in history.
The FBI alleges Paulie Packets took bets on networking information from listeners of Internet sports sites with an ingenious plot to make money.
Taking bets on dropped packets, fragmented packets, DF bits set on a packet, Paulie Packets earned himself a spot on Americas Most Wanted for being such a dangerous criminal.
Officials at the FBI arrested the 12 year old after he hacked into everything you can think of in order to pull of the crime of the century, and investigators are concerned that Paulie's actions may be rubbing off on his junior high school classmates.
The trend is toward pay for listing. Will the free, searchable web fade away?"
Its not a trend, its companies attempting to keep afloat in whats becoming a bull market. Its amazing to see how companies like google stay in business when they show little methods of collecting any kind of revenue. E.g., the only means of Google obtaining revenue is what? Charging for a company for a copy of its search engine? Why would a company pay for a search engine when the market if overflooded with them?
Ad based revenue, we all know where those click me businesses are going.
We also know most of the "web rings" never went anywhere, but for a search company to think people would pay for finding something on the net, they'd be shit out of luck, maybe corporations may do this, but I'd just make my own search engine (freely distributed) post it somewhere and let the whole "submit your site for free" revolution take place again.

Highly doubtable ther "brutha" not where I'm from... Ever notice why school shootings never occur in New York City? Well the answer is simple, if a student pulls out a gun, another student will pull out a bigger one...

Lots of people are getting hurt here
My condolences, care to send me their addresses I'll gladly call 911 and have an ambulance over to their house immediately.

(sorry had to)
They did give proper warning from what I've seen on their website, and its a week old. Sure it may not be enough but they did give warning so this shouldn't have come to no surprise to anyone.

On GSLV
:(
...
Dr Kasturirangan said ISRO would initially launch its own communication satellites by using the GSLV with indigenously developed cryogenic engines.
On Canada Correction, correction! The name of the country is not "Kanada,"
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOOT
"http://www.mirrentry.com posted videos (finally) but it doesn't seem to be the footage from the planes rather captured from a video camera on the ground." Knave trickery, but just as well, since none are available in a Linux-friendly format right now
Mir's descent was fast as hell and even the captured footage of it looks like a streak of fire nothing glamorous. However if you need some kicks, and we all know APRIL FOOLS is just a tick tock away.... Check out the "Hidden Casualties of Mir" -- what the governments won't tell you

Life is filled with Karma whores... Take your brown nosing co worker or classmate...
Maybe its pessimistic morons who make them dread asking things in public, maybe they want an opinion coming from someone in an entirely social status than they're accustomed to.
Yes sire for you know everything in this world.
I would go on but you bore me.

Part 1: A School Day
7:20am: Elite hax0r wakes up to prepare for another challenging day of 7th grade.
8:05: elite hax0r enters typing class. this is his elite hacking playground, and he loves to confuse the teacher by pressing num lock, and shouting '3y3 hax0red j00!!!'
9:00: typing class is over, and elite hax0r travels to his history class. No 'puters here, so, he strategically places his copy of 2600 inside his history book and memorizes the 'how to steal stuff' article.
9:30: history teacher catches elite hax0r with the clandestine 2600 and takes it away from him. elite hax0r begins a heart-wrenching speel about freedom of speech, and his right as a citizen of this country to read his elite 2600 whenever he pleases. he compares this atrocity to the unjust imprisonment of hax0rs everywhere, and takes comfort in his martyrdom. leet is definitely hearing about this tonight.
10:05: elite hax0r goes to english.
10:50: elite hax0r goes to lunch period. here, he sits with his class in the cafeteria and takes his usual spot near the lunchlady's cashregister so he can write down people's lunch numbers. This comes in handy, as they could possibly use their lunch number as their AOL password. And if not, its always really leet to have even the most insignificant 1nph0z.
11:25: elite hax0r goes to pre algebra. today, he makes the kid in the desk next to him ph33r when he types 1134 on the calculator and holds it upside down. he wonders if this is similar to hacking an LED sign like in 2600..?
12:15: elite hax0r goes to science class where he learns about the reproductive system. elite hax0r excuses himself from class where he performs a quick wetware hack.
4:47: elite hax0r gets tired of writing and feels like going outside. he and his little brother ride their bikes around in circles in the carport.
5:15: Ms. Hax0r calls the children inside for dinner.
6:00: hax0r children finish dinner, and elite hax0r asks for permission to get online and hack some stuff.
6:05: elite hax0r battles AOL's perpetual busy signal; its probably just a ploy by AOL to block him from coming online, in ph33r he might hax0r their network.
7:05: elite hax0r continues to hax0r away at AOL's "busy signal"
7:30: finally, elite hax0r crax0rs the busy signal and sneaks his way inside. He checks his mail for leet progs and tries to enter pr 'leet'. But, in another attempt by AOL to bring him down, the room is full (its really just their $3cur1ty 3xp3rt$ trying to keep him out).
7:40: elite hax0r finally busts into 'leet' in 137 tries. he chats with his homies.
8:00: elite hax0r is still chatting with the leets, when Ms. Hax0r picks up the fux0ring telephone and signs him offline.
8:35: after 20 minutes of crax0ring the "busy signal", in an angered retalliation attempt, elite hax0r steals mom's credit cards and scrolls them in 'leet' and 'phreak'.
9:00: elite hax0r finally finishes scrolling, and takes some time to work on his webpage; http://members.aol.com/Leethax0r/index.html. Here, he posts his new hax0r's manifesto, and lists $houtoutZ to his homies in 'leet' and 'punt', and his main chix0r Annie.
10:00: after an hour of figuring out how to use the AOL webpage software, he grows tired of all this brain work, and signs offline.
10:25: leet hax0r brushes his teeth, puts on his kevin mitnick pajamas, and goes to sleep.
11:00: leet hax0r dreams that he is Dade Murphy, and that he is having wild sex0r with Acid Burn, while hacking the FBI's Main Gibson.

11:03 a.m. Open up one of my new Yahoo accounts through an untraceable NetZero account.
;) LOL! Basically if I use a Wingate they can't track me at all! I should use gates more often ;( Hell I'm getting almost as lazy as a Fed. Ha!
If I'm super paranoid, I skip Anonymizer and hack me a Wingate. Then the Feds will trace back to one of the lamers' home computers not mine
Stupid news
So is AOL wrong for disallowing other clients from taking revenue away from them (AOL) if so please give me one good factual based reason on:
How doesn't this take away from AOL's pockets, when your using their resources (bandwidth, tech support dollars when servers go bonkers from overloads, etc.)?
What was this "insight" and work around that led you to again... use their (AOL's) resources?
You seem to be missing my points in my posts, and fuck no I'm not for AOL in any shape form or fashion, the facts remain, AOL has to pay for your clients, when they shouldn't.
Stupid News
Actually, even, they can take another stance
ipf block in on all from any to any port = AIM_PORT
ipf pass in on 152.0.0.0 to any port = AIM_PORT
Turn around and say they need to block certain ip address ranges for security concerns, then what will people say they're lying?
If it were your service and you were losing revenue you would be just as pissed as AOL. I have a better solution though, why not just unpatent everything and live in an unbalanced state of chaos? This way if someone steals from you, you have no right to complain, however if you do the same, same rules apply no one can say nothing. As it stands if I steal something from you its a crime, and vice versa, so should we be barbarians or just deal with whats in front of us?
Your not the first developers to face this dilemna
,connection to their servers, etc.), maybe your team should code an exact replica and allow AOL to pay you for the revisional code to allow *nix based clients to use the IM, this way AOL could continue to spam people with their messages, (banner revenue generation bs), and since its open sourced the typical geek would know how to chop this up.
Wireless News Factor
C|NET
And the list goes on and on. One of the measures you guys should try to take, is follow on AOL's steps to make money on their client and offer some sort of revenue generating scheme for AOL in an effort to have them allow you to use their services (bandwidth
Theft of service...
EOF (no matter how you cut the pie)

Sure its a cheesy website but it has some pretty useful information on the subject.

I can see it now:
...
