Don't think my company would allow that, security is ubertight. For some reason the majority of OSes are MacOS 9.0. But the techs are running Linux, and a port on the open net around here will let us use any notebook we bring.
aren't the democrats traditionally the ones who get big bucks from the entertainment industry? they had an almightily funded effort to ease off the MPAA ratings debate a while ago, and it was democrats getting their pockets padded. i'm pretty angry to see the republicans getting in with the recording industry, firstly because i vote republican, and secondly because i don't agree with the RIAA. all politicians are starting to suck. (i thought frist was a nice guy in person. hopefully this is not indicative of his true nature.)
Eventually, it'll become easier to produce bamboo bikes, and this technology could be implemented in Asia, for instance, where there is a huge need for easier transportation. Not saying bamboo bikes are more durable than any other material under any stress, but no one's going to bike up an unpaved mountainside in a bamboo bike. Maybe 10-30 city blocks, which it ought to be suited just fine for. Heck, I'd get one to use around campus. Might get the attention of the crazy eco-freak girls around here =P. And I doubt anyone would want to steal a bamboo bike anyway.
How many parents actually monitor every activity their kids engage in online? There is no real point to this RIAA legal nonsense; I thought suing college kids was the lowest the RIAA could sink to, but boy was I wrong.
i didn't get a clear answer on their tech qualifications for the job. 'we're interested and we have the background' doesn't really answer the question. reading/. once a week for 2 hrs doesn't count either.
The infamous RIAA "Dentist":
"You don't want to have another visit with a dentist like me"
-- Matt Oppenheim, RIAA senior vice president of business and legal affairs
There is a Matthew Oppenheim listed as a '93 graduate of Cornell law.

Matthew Oppenheim, a lawyer representing SDMI, said the group doesn't want to limit academic freedom or research, "but if somebody releases a paper that provides very specific information about how to attack that type of technology, it's problematic."

re: the felten paper that the RIAA implicitly threatened to sue a princeton prof et al. over:
Matthew Oppenheim, head of litigation for the association, said he found the lawsuit mystifying, "It's like a bully who is looking for a fight, and the other kid doesn't want to fight, he said. "He just keeps pushing you and pushing you and pushing you."
One of my favorites that hasn't been mentioned: Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan? I'm young enough to not remember seeing it on the big screen, and seeing it on IMAX would be awesome.
Quentin Tarantino's last film screening had it on 35mm in Austin, TX; I missed it. Thank you high school.
I hate spam as much as the average person out there, but I really think getting personal and stalking spammers is unethical. Why, it's almost as annoying as...getting spammed.
There's something to be said about spamming as an extension of capitalism. Perhaps billboard ads can be considered visual spam; the same goes for television and radio. At the point where finite resources (i.e. my time, my bandwidth) is concerned however, capitalism has no rights there.
Maybe if all the stalkers at Spamhaus started petitioning the White House or Congress for action, something would happen.
There are programs used to read email addys right off of webpages to be collected for sale to other spammers. Those internet webcrawlers will be delighted (err...maybe) to copy all the randomly generated junk addresses (therefore unmarketable) from a page you can make with a spambait program (link below). You can also script out your email addresses with simple Javascript document.write commands and concatenation.
They'd be great for mucking about inside a single cubicle. Definitely for those slow days. But if any of you out there row and can't tell where I'm headed with this, check out the following link. *Any* place is good for a quick row, and maybe some annoying coaching.
he flies a rapier, which isn't the best ship in the game. i dodged him with a clipper and only once in a while did i need the afterburner to escape him.
if you get really bored, you can avoid hector by spending as little time in space as possible (original EV)...i got really good at fast docks and evading those stupid torps he launches

Matt Oppenheimer came from Columbia. I wonder if RIAA will ever subpoena Columbia students...

I can just see the headlines: "State Internet Security Forces take action after government email inboxes spammed to death."
they wouldn't need web bugs would they? just check for whichever accounts didn't have a bounceback msg saying the account doesn't exist...
