  1. Re:Unfair comparison on Why Apple Delayed Leopard for the iPhone · · Score: 1

I just bought my first Mac after 13 years of MS hell, and I bought it with a dealer installed copy of Bootcamp and a brand new EOM copy of... Windows XP Professional. Maybe I should have bought Vista, do you think?

  2. Re:Does Only Apple Sell Apple's Merchandize? on Apple, the New Microsoft? · · Score: 1

Amazon.com sells a lot of Apple stuff. And they are one of the largest retailers on earth, maybe the largest.

A few months ago I bought a Leatherman Core, and was dismayed to find that it had a serrated blade that I was sure I would never use. A couple of weeks ago, going through the usual frustration of opening one of these packages, I tried the serrated blade, and I was amazed at how easily it solved the problem. Now my least used blade has become my most valued one. It works like magic, and I always have it in my pocket.

Of course the law is not simply black or white, but some crimes are indeed very black. Execute those who commit first degree murder, child rape, and those guilty of comparable atrocities, and six years in prison won't be nearly as bad for a software pirate. He will get to spend his time in prison with tax cheats, and the like. Of course, this is not politically correct. But political correctness is what produced the current situation, and we must be doing something wrong.

  5. Re:Linux needs to get its act together on Linux's iPod Generation Gap · · Score: 1

Apple which had only a tiny fraction of the total personal computer market, came out with the iPod which was enormously better than any other mp3 player. When somebody makes something for Linux systems that is enormously better than anything else, then Linux will really take off. As long as producers of Linux hardware and software keep trying to make "just as good as" products, Linux will be a "just as good as" OS. What Linux needs is something that is much better then you can get for any other platform.

  6. Re:The Australian government are clueless on Aussie Bill Would Ban Hacking Tools, Virus Code · · Score: 1

The Australian government is clueless about a lot of things including human rights. They have also passed laws violating the human right, protected here in the United States, to keep and bear arms. Just because something can be used for illicit purposes doesn't mean that it should be illegal. On the contrary, criminalizing the possession of such 'tools' as cracking code and firearms is the act of an abusive, totalitarian government.

  7. Re:MS Office Filters and Lotus Notes for Linux on Ask IBM's Linux Marketing Director · · Score: 2

The only thing it will take to put large numbers of Linux machines on the home desktop is a really good game that is available only on Linux. Many gamers are real fanatics. Of course, that means a game written from scratch for Linux, not a port of some Windows success.
