A lot of people make good money by investigating companies and shorting the stock. Check out Muddy Waters or Greenlight Capital, headed by David Einhorn. Einhorn even wrote a book about one particular company he shorted. Read, "Fooling Some of the People All of the Time."
Thanks! I went to Catholic school for 12 years, and I always tell people that we were taught not to interpret the Bible literally. My religion teacher even went over all of the stuff in the OT that totally contradicts everything else, and then put all of the those crazy rules into historical context.
Christianity is all about "love thy neighbor", not about surrendering all thought processes to God and licking his anus.
Sorry, kind of off topic, but I saw your post and thought, "Man, that's exactly how I start my arguments on Christianity". I always thought that I went to some bizarre school that taught some ultra liberal perspective. Glad to know I'm not the only one...
It's like that time the government went $6 trillion in debt, and decided to celebrate by occupying a bunch of foreign countries.
At least Amazon.com is using the proceeds from that copy of "I, Robot" I bought to throw a party. I'd be really upset if the money I spend on science fiction books was going towards missile defense and the planned invasion of Canada...
What surprises me most is that I haven't seen any posts about the lineup. Just bitching about dubbing and ADV shows. While some of you may be upset that they're showing "A crappy dub of Kenshin that they're calling Samurai X" I say get over it. Yes, the dub sucks. What's important to me is paying a small increase on my cable bill rather than spending hundreds of dollars on DVDs just to watch a sub. Ok, the voice acting is sub par compared to the Japanese. I'll suffer through it, because the story is still there and Japanese story telling is still better than American story telling any day of the week.
Has anyone looked at the line up? Goldenboy is being shown. Goldenboy! Yeah, we've all seen it, but I've been watching the Simpsons for well over 10 years now, it's still funny, and I'll still watch it. Excell Saga? Yeah, it's popular, and yeah, it's way overdone, yeah, it still makes me laugh harder than any anime I've seen in a while. I'll watch it. Gunsmith Cats, EVA, Those Who Hunt Elves, Spriggan, Burn Up, that's some good stuff there. What's better is the fact that I don't really want to buy a lot of those series. EVA's good, and Burn Up is always good for fanservice and some laughs, but sometimes I wonder if they're worthy of watching and rewatching at the cost of $25 a DVD.
Anime's come a long way kids. Yeah, it's a trend, that blows. I miss the days of sitting around trading fansubs online at 2 AM. I guess this is where I say I'm into anime because it's different than American cartoons. Superior? In a lot of ways, yes. What's cool is it's a different cultural viewpoint. Cry all you want, I know so many of you are hardcore otaku. If that's the way it is, fine. $150 a box set is good for you, an extra couple of dollars chocked on to my cable bill every month, well, I like that more than the alternative.
This is when people start throwing money around. When people watch, more stuff will follow. It can only get better.
I dunno if anyone said this, but I didn't notice this in any replies, so here goes...
When you attend a Catholic School, you pretty much agree that their morals and guidelines are important in education. You not only agree, you sign a paper giving away your rights. If you don't sign the paper, you don't attend. Maybe this isn't so at all schools, but this document usually partains to your activites outside of school too.
It's a horrible system but somehow it works out. It just amazes me that no private school students have snapped and started shooting at people.
"Tragically, without presidential leadership on the issue, teen drug-use rose dramatically during the first five years of the Clinton-Gore Administration, and it remains at unacceptably high levels today"
The man said he didn't inhale, what else do you want him to do?
Though this is not totally on topic, it's still kinda interesting. In an interview done a long time ago, Flansburgh defends mp3s claiming that anyone who is in the music business for money is advised again it. ("I've been in the music business for 20 years, and just recently paid off my first car") He defended the fact that intellectual rights are still retained ("A picasso is still a picasso, no matter who owns it)
It's nice hearing a different view on MP3s from an artist who doesn't totally defend it, yet isn't totally against it.
Come on guys, it wasn't THAT bad. I got a few chuckles out of it. If you're all so funny, why aren't you guys doing stuff more creative? You're all just sitting around... reading slashdot:P
I guess I did see some problems with that... Terriers aren't really fearsome... Schnouzers.... now there's a fearsome dog...
Was anybody really upset with the new ending to ROTJ? When I saw celebrating on Coruscant, I was shocked. I always thought it was a planet really content with the Empire's rule, being the home planet and stuff. That, and I really did miss the yub yub song:P
Hey man, I always liked the ewok song:)And I think SWSE had some cool stuff in it too, like the added storm troopers on the death start when han was chasing em, and the improved explosions... Ahh well, maybe it's just me:P
