Solid state HDs would be much faster. With the size of modern day HDs, I'm willing to buy a smaller HD(say 20 gigs) if it is 20 or more times faster then a 1 TB hd(Maybe not but I would like to think I would.) -----
1) No touchy, feely. You can't actually touch or see what your buying and so, it doesn't seem as real as it is at Wal-mart.
2) No Face to Face Confrontations. If you have a question, you have to send an e-mail, use your fingers to chat with them, or some other neanderthal form of communication.
3) Delay of sales. Shipping takes time and, since time is money, this will cause loss of sales because people are willing to pay $5 more to have it today.
4) Shipping > Sales Tax. Most goods bought on the internet are around the hundredish. Unless it is really light, $14 shipping on a $50 purchase is outrageous when I can go to the mall and get the same goods at $7 more but only $3 taxes and still save $4.
5) Cash vs. Credit. I carry cash most of the time because it is more dispensible. Credit Cards are less dispensible and less secure then cash(and always will be). Their are no surcharges or interest rates(except inflation) on cash and so people feel more secore with it.
If Amazon.com could overcome these obstacles, they would not only make a profit, they would build their own goldmine. -----
The First Amendment gives me the right to be a bigot as long as I don't hurt or threaten anyone.
No, it does not. It's hate speech, just as if you had criticize a homosexual in this manner.
Deal with it.
Here's the first amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
What it does not say is anything about hate speeches. It says that I can peacefully assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievances. In loose terms, it says I can say anything I want to as long as its in a peaceful and a civilized manner and It doesn't hurt anybody. By saying petitioning, it confides the ability of the government to ignore such petitions. Hate speech is civilized and non-threatening(physically). It also gives the person threatened the ability to sue because they feel their rights were violated.

For sure it wouldn't happen in today's society, but that's because people's views are different today. That's where you're wrong. Ever heard of "Ethic Cleansing" that had recently ocurred. It is the equivalent, on a much smaller scale, of the genocide of the Jews in WWII.
People will never change, they will always think their above the past and so, the past catches up with them.
Religious freaks should not be able to control our lives. A few people should not be able to stop Yahoo from selling porn to the masses. Who cares if its not "moral", this is a democracy, not a theocracy, laws are not made upon what is moral or not but what should be legal and non-legal.
Weak-minded people will always be moronic and the morones should never rule the world.
They should've kept selling the porn if it was making them a profit. Gee, I don't like Yahoo selling XXX, I'm just going to take my address book and send e-mails against it by everybody I know. Yeah. Yahoo has the legal right to sell whatever they please and should.
We always need faster processors. Their just becoming less and less the bottlenecks. Right now, memory and harddrive access speed are the biggest bottlenecks, while the CPU is generally rarely ever running at 100% CPU cycles(unless its doing something like rendering a TIFF or Searching for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence.) My biggest bottleneck right now for games is not my processor , it is my video card
It doesn't do it on my version of netscape(4.75) or Oprah. If its Internet Explorer, here is the best way I found to fix it.
edit system.ini
change shell=explorer.exe to shell=c:\windows\progman.exe
alt-file-run c:\command.com
cd\progra~1
deltree internet_explorer
exit
Now you can get a clean install of internet explorer without reinstalling windows(if you can find the copy on your windows cd)
It doesn't do it on my computer so I figure it is your computer/install of your browser. -----
It is good to see yet another country puts it's hat in the space arena. I agree. Only high populous countries with more money then they know what to do with have the resources can have a sucessful continuous space program.
I hope to see more countries to contribute to the program. Some countries I do not wish to see participate in the space program, especially ones with large amounts of religious fanatics who like to terrorize other nations people(you'll find this almost anywhere, some just more often.)
Main reason I do not want to see just the USA and russia out in space I prefer to hope that "The Next Frontier" will an earth venture not just a few countries. Agree here too. We have another planet, besides Mars, and start colonizing it, we don't want any single one country colonizing. For when others start colonizing it, their will massive amounts of tension floating which will indefinitely lead to War. If we have several countries colonizing it at one time, the melting pot effect might more rapidly occur and decrease tension.
This would be the most economically viable solution and probably the profit maximizing point in the short run. Unfortunately, this is Microsoft and they jack up prices so that their product looks better to businesses(Higher prices means that Employess will get more then they want out of this product where as a $10 word processing suite, which is just as good wouldn't look quite as enticing because of the lack of support and company financial backing) and that they can eliminate the competition in the long run, long run profit maximization. Can you say, M.O.N.O.P.O.L.Y. -----
I have an NT 4.0 box and the longest I've got it to run was 24 days before it started giving errors about insufficient memory when total memory used up was only 32 Megs(this was a 400 Mhz, 128 MB ram machine). My mom's win98 machine has been up 3 months and my linux box has been up 4 months. You're probably right about DOS. I have never seen a machine more then a week without needing a reboot. It is a real time OS so, theoretically, it should never crash if their isn't bugs in the code. Of course, it comes from Redmond, so that explains the entire thing. -----

Some mechanism to eliminate the need to run various services as root (Capabilities, ACLs, LIDS' mechanism, etc). Security alert, common users using root capable services that could possibly damage your computer.
If you don't like it, don't watch it. Plain and simple. You can't stop it or you would violate freedom of speech. All Anonymous Cowards are created equal and shall not be denied their freedom of speech. -----
History repeats itself. We've already had several genocide wars. WW II, the Spanish Inquisition, etc. If technology repeats itself as it has in the past, in some future, most likely, the genome will be part of a greater cause in the form of warfare. No one is going to spend several billions of dollars on a project and not expect to get anything out of it or not be able to use it. I say, time will tell and I would like an apology when I'm right. -----
