Sorry, at school I rarely completed homework in time and as usual I didn't do as told :-( bad boy...)
    1. I think that the education level at the time when those religious text were recorded isn't quite
comparable to our current status. So it's not easy to compare Sci to any true religion.
I'm no expert, but I think many religious text are about tolerance and not about buying freedom for
    your soul...
    2. Some people change their confession during their life, because they feel another religion
might fit better to their view of the world. Preachers might not be happy about that, but I
don't think that they'd make a big fuss about one sheep leaving the herd. Would this be the same
    with Scientology?

It's a shame that this document is secret. I doubt that anyone with a sane mind would take part in a organisation which is
founded on such a childish and unbelievable scifi-story.
Would it be legal to list all scientology companies/organisations on a public server so that people can avoid these freaks?
Btw: I think religion is always about tolerance (fanatics excluded) and should respect the opinion
of others. The reaction of sc proves that they are definitely no religious organisation.

Might be, but I can't afford Photoshop and Gimp's good enough for me. Even if I could affod it, I wouldn't buy it, because it's possible that the current Photoshop version won't work on future M$ OSes. With the Gimp I won't loose any money and it's probable that "./configure && make && make install" will work for a looooong time ;-).

Wait for the next versions of Windoze. Maybe then M$ isn't interested in your "old" Notebook and the hardware-companies (if still existent) develop drivers only for the newer systems.
For example, try to get a Win9x mousedriver for a good oldfashioned 3-button Mousesystems mouse.

Hey, games ARE important. The good oldies work with DOS and the new ones work on Linux (Thanks to Loki and others). A few interesting games run on windoze, but there's a cure for that too: wine But you're right. Stop using M$-Soft/Hardware anyway.

The combination of the Windoze$criptingHost and ActiveX on the insecure Windozes is really crazy enough, but to spread this insanity to other systems with C#/.NET sounds insane to me. Aren't there already enough backdoors and security holes for hackers? A company in which marketing and new features outweigh security/stability issues shouldn't be able to survive for long. But as long as users and managers buy their stuff and keep complaining about stupid computers (when they should blame the OS), we all have to live with those smart salesmen from redmont. My only hope is that someday the big companies will realize that they throw tons of money into the M$ trashcan while they could get the same (if not better) results with GPL'ed software. Until that day I have to work with Mi$erable software on Intelligent CPU's (at home its linux@athlon ;-). PS: Someone please warn me if Mega$oft makes it into critical devices (How'd ya like a GP-Fault in your local Nuclear-Powerplant?).

It definitly has some advantages. Ruthless politicians (means almost every one ;-) only have to bribe one hacker rather than spend millions on ad's, bribes and blackmail. So they save lots of money which will reduce the need to raise taxes. Maybe they'll raise the tax anyway, but then they have this additional money for themselves and can retire earlier. In my next life I wanna be a politician or someoneelsewithoutaconscience.

That's really an improvement, but it's still a shame that I have to use this application with M$-DLL's. I'd prefer a native Notes-Client for Linux (right after a lean Novell Groupwise client+server on Linux ;-). It's really strange that Big Blue, who bought Lotus a few years ago, spends mountains of money in Linux and is unable to deliver a fine Notes-client after creation of the more complex Notes-Server for Linux (which happend more than two years ago, if I remember correctly). This kind of marketing will produce the same results as selling your own hardware with Monopoly-OS instead of your own brew (well, big companies almost never learn... they buy someone who does ;-). Nevertheless wine's another great alternative to plex86 or vmware. Thanx4thelink! (In the near future I'll have to use notes: No more telnet on the old DECmail-server :-( )

KDE and GNOME aren't exactly there to look like the graphicalmousdriverfromredmond. They exist to make the lives of ordinary users easier. Of course some ideas are taken from other good GUI's like CDE or Mac's finder, but the good thing is that you can choose to use what you like. On a free OS you HAVE a choice of how your personal computer looks and works (if it doesn't I can blame myself for beeing too stupid to make it work ;-). My favourites are gnumeric, kpilot and other cool KDE/Gnome stuff on top of my pretty enlightenment desktop. Thanks to all those developers who spent many hours in developing these fine programs!!!

  11. Re:M$ doesn't matter on Ballmer Claims Linux Is Top Threat To MS · · Score: 1

Hey, don't pick so hard on M$! Think about how the world would be without them! We'd have no fun laughing about their bugs (which OS needs 98.5 tries to be able to shut down properly? ;-) and probably would have only mice with one button or stable OS'es with ugly GUI's. Of course there'd be many excellent companies still alive, who were put out of business by lawyers and vapourware. On the other hand, many hardware-companies wouldn't be able to sell new versions of old devices every two years because the old ones won't be supportet by Wintel-Version++. If you'd have to buy a printer only once in your lifetime there wouldn't be that many printer-companies left (and pollution-issues would be much smaller). It's good that M$ exists 'cause no one is able to play the role of the bad guy's as good as them and thus unite most of the thinking folk against them. The future will show if the stupidity to pay for buggy, insecure and slow software can survive against the charge of free software which does the same job as good if not even better. Maybe someday M$ will be beaten 'cause of their ugly behaviour past or because they weren't able to fight all Non-Wintel-Companies and then the fall would be very deep (and the party'd be great ;-). cu on that party, doomtrooper
