If I can run quake via Wine, why would I run Loki's version?
Because Quake runs with OpenGL, not Direct3D. I run Quake2 and Quake3 using Linux and It's faster than Windows. You can have running setiathome, netscape (to have something on screen in case of need to hit the panic key) and even record a CD-R without disrupt the game:-). The right question is: why to buy the Windows version?
Great! You can now run Direct3D games with Wine. But don't forget that you can play Glide games with Wine long time ago. As I remember, I was able to play "Super Mario 64" with Ultra-HLE running over WINE. Yes! The N64 emulator over the Windows emulator. And it was a little faster than running it native on Windows:-) I will try Rogue Squadron, StarWars Racer and Toy Story 2:-)
ftp.cdrom.com, as many archives, has an arbitrary limit. There is a lot I not connect to cdrom, but It has used to be 500 connections. And yes, Linux performed bad by then. But there are a lot of improvement since linux-1.0. Now, Linux-2.x can fill an 100Mbps link, but BSD can not (maybe now). But... who can pay for a 100Mbps link?
Does anybody knows DTV plans over LatinAmerica?
They just started to broadcast a channel about
a new smart-card you have to change. Is it right? What about this? Is the same on US?
Are you sure? I've checked alpha-processor site and there is no notice about this issue. I really wish Alpha will survive Compaq/Intel menace.
The failure of the Cube is a proof that Microsoft will destroy the Video Games market: in the future the only console will be the XBox..
