If you do the math you're probably thinking that means there will only be 1.6 million units ready to go by launch (assuming both Asustek and Hon Hai each hit 200k/mo.) The article goes on to state that the production will increase to two million units by October -- at least for Asustek.
The question is, will there be enough cell processors to stuff into these boxes with yields being so aweful?
Yeah, the fact that I have to reboot after each QuickTime update kills me. It's a friggin video player!?! And why again are the weekly QuickTime updates over 50 megs?
I have a theory -- some might label it "conspiracy" but I think Apple bundles all of their/real/ system updates in QuickTime... Again, just an unsubstantiated theory.
To clarify, I mean that I'm "joking" to be annoyed by my Mac crashing when I tried to do so many different things - not that Parallels didn't actually crash my Mac -- it did.
Last night I crashed my brand new Macbook Pro. I didn't think that was supposed to happen! All I was doing was:
surfing the web
listening to iTunes
installing the Opera browser
installing Windows XP in Parallels
Yes, I am joking. Parallels is awesome. The claims of "near native performance" are indeed correct - in my experience. Parallels is what allowed me to finally make the 'switch' because my office is tied heavily to Outlook (and Business Contact Manager and therefore SQL Server).
Parallels works as advertised and is recommended from one slashdotter to another.
I write this as a suck down the sweet sweet taste of Diet Dr. Pepper. Did you know it tastes more like regular Dr. Pepper? I'm sure you have heard that, and from the sounds of it, you don't agree. I tried diet sodas on and off but, like you, I found them repulsive. Then with nothing else in the house (other than water, YUK!) I committed to finishing the case of diet that I bought. By the time I finished consuming it I honestly couldn't tell it was diet. It was as if a switch in my head went off. Ever since then regular sodas syrupy and too sweet. So, while I cannot recommend an alternative, I do encourage you to give it another try. And if you're like me, you'll stop consuming 1/2 your daily caloric intake from soft drinks. (8 sodas X 110 calories each = poking new notches in belt)
I disagree. I had an alias email from my old Virginia Tech email address (no I won't post it here!). I got way too much spam so I turned it off (causing an undeliverable message to be sent). Well over a year later I reactivated it and the spam continued to flood in. I don't know why bringing down a mail server for only two days would provide any significant reduction in spam. If the spammers all collaborated to ensure that their lists were all clean THEN it may work but we know this not to be the case. I've read that 99% of emails sent are SPAM (most resulting in undeliverable messages sent back from the mail server). I don't think its really that high but when a large % of emails being sent are not even delivered then shutting down a mail server for two days will only aggravate your friends.

Yeah, it was beta 3 I think -- I can't remember. And I agree with you. I thought the program rocked back then and the final release is even stronger.

Slashdotters with sigs are idiots.

Here's a reprint from my Slashdot journal

Bonus, it does/n't cause cancer! FDA Reviewing Italian Aspartame Study
