It seems if you run a Vostro (like me) Windows 7 might not be your friend if you want your touchpad and video card to work. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/cf9bc301-e3c2-4c5b-b9cd-9eab8582f45f Or maybe they will fix it in the next week, but I doubt it.
The problems with the downloads cutting out your VoIP connections can easily be solved with QoS. Over at LinksysInfo.org You can find the latest news on linksys devices, including the firmware updates from Sveasoft with QoS implementation. If you run your own firewall you can find easy solutions to setting up QoS just by searching google.
I have QoS set up on my iptables firewall on Linux which I only had to add a few lines for. It allows me to make VoIP calls without any interruption.
I will probably be switching to broadvoice as soon as they have porting set up so that I can take my home phone number to VoIP. I believe that within the next few weeks they are supposed to be ready to start porting.
The online version of TurboTax doesn't support W2's from multiple states. I tried H&R block and although they can do it, they want $100 to file my federal and $60 for my state.
The Federal was actually cake to do, so I did that myself, H&R called me after I submitted and told me that if I only wanted state that they would have to charge me for federal anyways.
I ended up going to a windows machine and installing the desktop TurboTax.
(I live in MA and work in CT, also had a W2 from beginning of last year in MA)
How about using IDE hard drives with a fibre channel connection? apple.com has a 720 gig array for abotu $6k, and you could easily add many more drives as there are only 4 that come with it, which allows space for the addition of 10 more IDE drives.
There's a place called New Horizons in Connecticut near me that puts people in paid internships for NetAdmins and SysAdmins. I'm sure there are other places like that throughout the world.
At the ISp I work for I am in the webhosting department and we get many users that call saying that they need their mailbox quota to be higher and that they need to be able to send larger emails because their business depends on being able to send large files this way. We always have to tell them that there is nothing we can do to raise the quotas and that their best option is to set up their own mail server so that they can set their own limits.
Interport has since been migrated over onto RCN equipment from the original stuff and is now much more stable. They can also dial into all RCN PoPs. As interport they only had the choice of 4 phone numbers.
Before two months ago there was huge waits for tech support. Looks like they have about tripled the amount of tech support agents (at least in Springfield MA) in the past two months. Many of the dialup techs are being trained in cable modem. It has become more and more rare to have to wait for a tech at all. Only problem would be if you hit the "cloud" that redirects calls and got to a call center that had a wait. That also will be fixed soon though. The techs we have now have many tools, and are more knowledgable about how to use them.
You could probably have a static IP if you were on a Hybrid if you buy one from commercial sales, but only for upload I would imagine. Dialup can have a static IP, but there is not presently a way to set up a static IP for CM custs.

I think that RFC1912 2.1 says you should have a reverse DNS for all your mail servers.
