I also read an article along those lines. It mentioned electronic "passport" ideas, to let users go between certain sites. But it also smacked of a monitoring system, to keep some out, some in. This is most likely what the Germans would be striving for.
...its all downhill. Once they start, it will never end, until the only web surfing that will be allowed is for shoes and new cars (used will still be banned).
WTF.
...is that you?
Would you like us to ban it, due simply to an online article?
Why not ban anything that may be even remotely dangerous before it hits the market...
Pens, pencils, belts, rubber bands, plastic bags, to name a few things that should be banned.
"I for one thing we should stick to scooters, like my razor" Yeah, NOBODY was ever injured on one of those.
I'm just wondering how many 14 or 15 year olds have sort of ID to prove their age.
What happens when Mom/Dad/Uncle/etc. buys the game for 13,14 year old...
If the company loses its customers, it loses its money, then it goes out of business. Its the only way the little guy can fight back. We need to reward good companies and punish the ones that do not give us what we pay for.
Common sense has no place in the courtrooms or the law in general.
Like I said, where does it end? Do the parents get sued for suing? They should take the $40,000 hit and be proud. I'd rather be broke than sell my morals.
Like the article says, security in schools is basically very good. We don't hear about the schools where their are no problems. We only hear about violence from the media, who whore themselves out for ratings (not unlike myself, whoring for karma). They claim journalistic integrity, but don't report the 99% of the time when everything is "status quo". Incidents of major violence are rare.
But I could be wrong. Maybe every kid brings guns to school. But I doubt it. Just like the real world, there are the 99%'ers who live life and don't make the news. But we only hear from the 1% who do insane things.
You made a good point. But I think they will make it bigger, better. and broader. As for the jackasses that leave them in their computers, oh well. They'll figure it out sooner or later. Until then, I'm the one driving the VP's Porsche.
Unlikely. The COMPANY bought the product. In court, what would they say: "They made me"? Most companies would probably write it off, and hire another consultant. So the cycle continues...
Or, was that the true ironey?
No, if he were gay, it would have been funnier
...do you believe in sarcasm?
Too late. Al Gore beat you to it. By the way, he also invented the internet, and he wants it back.
Looks to me like a "gnutella", with individual boxes serving web pages and such. Not such a bad idea, but the traffic...
With brilliant material like this, why post AC?
Only if it gets moderated down.
Hey Karnac - will you do my birthday party?

...insults, thinking out loud, cmdtaco, not conforming to German thinking. Any other reasons to block /.?

Who said that would be illegal or unable to be seen from Germany? I think it is "art". Actually, this guy I used to work with "Art"...

I hit submit too fast... $40,000 to defend their child, then suing to be reimbursed, then what? More suits?
Overzealous lawyers are ruining this country.

...totally. I'm thinking Microsoft, money to be made, sell a few more Thinkpads, etc. IBM will screw this up.
Only buy IBM.
So, a Playstation card is more important than a project summary for a VP of the comapany you work for?
Are you kidding?
