It used to be about educating someone to think about the problem but now we teach them how to pass an exam. 10 years ago you would study a subject and after a long period of study you would get questions that required you to apply knowledge. Now all the courses are modularised. You study a module and at each stage you do a question that is practically an example of what you have been given.
In the old system, people were taught to think and they could think for themselves. In the new system people are taught to remember what they have been told recently and to recite it.
The new system appears to get better results and colleges and universities are measured on results. The client (student) is not interested in any more than the bit of paper that will get them a better wage. So US/UK society is dumbed down.
Ironically Russia and China etc. still respect true education and the client in those countries (and most other Eastern block/Asian) still appreaciate deep learning.
Some of us want the internet to be free of US control as well. I think that there should be freedom of speech on the internet but that is just a dream. Currently the US wants DMCA, *IAA etc. and the rest of the world does not see why the US should restrict what they do.
What I fear from this idea is that it will end up being restricted by everybody. US, China, Israel, France... they all have their own axes to grind.

I think that the most common customer will be the tourist/business trip. Strange, I think my parents are still alive and they were also alive in the war. I know of lots of old people that bore me whenever they can with their war stories. Maybe history is not your subject but it is only 60 years since the war and life expectancy here is longer than that. Although, as a generalisation, 'most' of them are dead and the rest of them are fed up with people dying for the fun of it.

They are now expected to use the oil revenue to rebuild what was destroyed in the war. America decides who gets the contracts to rebuild and awards the contracts to American companies that submit closed bids. The oil flows again and America gets the money. Iraq has to pay yet again for infrastructure that it still has to pay for the first building of. And America wonders why the Arabs hate them ? Forget Palestine, just follow what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Do not forget that the rest of us get hurt in the revenge attacks that American actions create... I am fed up with terrorism and am therefore against this American war on Terrorism and the terrorism that it creates.
