After running various Windozes in VMware for a couple of years I recently switched to QEMU. It works very well with a reasonable speed using the kernel accelerator module KQEMU.
The problem is not to create a better product. It is more to distribute to the masses. There are many products better than OL out there. The only problem is that M$ has control over the vast majority of users.

Who cares about an OS which version is still at 2.4?
