As with every CGI flick so far, the humans aren't quite right yet.
According to The Tech of Shrek on Tech TV, the princess initially looked too human, so she looked out of place in the fantasy setting. So, they simplified the animation to make her look more 'cartoony'. -----------------

Mike Myers isn't American he's Canadian, of Scottish ancestry. The scots accent is based on one of his relatives, but overdone for comic effect. -----------------
He didn't write any of them, they were ghost-written (but of course you knew that).
Ron Goulart was paid a lot of money to write the Tekwar books, and keep quiet about it. -----------------
I never got into the Ultima stuff, but I did like some of the Wing Commander series. Anyone know what's going on with that series? Has it been superseded by the Star Wars and Star Trek spin-offs, or is someone still working on stuff set in the Wing Commander universe? -----------------
Oops, you're right. I haven't programmed a Mac in years, and I was getting muddled thinking about 680X0 binaries, PowerPC binaries, and Fat binaries. Thanks for the correction. -----------------
The amount of investment required to produce a top quality video game is now about the same as to produce a Hollywood movie.
But maybe not as difficult. Chris Roberts did a great job with the Wing Commander games, but when he made the Wing Commander movie... ouch! -----------------
You know, that's one of the things I like about the Mac OS/filesystem. It doesn't matter what name or extension you give the file, because the file type is encoded in the resource fork and the OS checks the resource fork and dtermines the type of file and the app used to open it.
if I was using Macs at both ends I could send all files with a.txt extension! -----------------
Have a high-altitude jet aircraft take the shuttle up as far as possible, release it, and let a reusable sled which contains the boosters and fuel tank take it the rest of the way up (and re-enter upon completion).
A very cool idea, that has been kicking around for a while. The old "UFO" TV series had a moon shuttle that was carried up into the high atmosphere by a jet, then decoupled and flew to the moon.
The best I could find was some blueprints here. Look at the Lunar carrier picture. -----------------
I saw "Intellectual Property" in their letter, and immediately decided they were the bad guys. I've obviously been reading Slashdot too long. -----------------
I'm gonna miss Seven Days, I was sure I'd heard they renewed it. They built themselves a very small box to work in and wrote some really clever stories inside that box.*Sigh* -----------------
Most U.K. shows have a finite life span. John Cleese said everything he wanted to say in 12 episodes of 'Fawlty Towers'. Patrick McGoohan told the whole story of 'The Prisoner' in 17.
I'm watching a 6 episode series on BBC America called 'Coupling', and it's brilliant! Think a funny, sexually explicit 'Friends', then think 100 times better. -----------------
No! Buffy stays! Aside from the babe factor, it has some of the best writing on TV. 'Hush' from last season is one of the best pieces of TV writing in years. -----------------
This is no big deal, they're basically talking about VCD (Video CD) burning. Roxio and Nero can do that, too. A really good reference site is www.vcdhelp.com that tries to explain the ins and outs of the various media. The problem is that not all home DVD players can read these disks. I've been trying to create VCDs from my miniDV input for a few days now, without any success. *sigh* -----------------

Now that's not true, I used to like Microsoft, until their stock tanked. I made a fair amount of money from Microsoft stock. Considering I had to work with their crappy products day after day, I took it as payback. -----------------

Apple's OpenDoc was a step in this direction. You started with a document, and then invoked the editors to create the different pieces of your document. I think it was heading away from the application-centric approach, but like a lot of Apple projects of the mid-nineties, it got toasted before it really got off the ground. -----------------

Thanks. The most useful page is the summary page here. From the summary page: The Act gives you control over your personal information by requiring organizations to obtain your consent to collect, use or disclose information about you. The Act confers certain rights on individuals, and imposes specific obligations on organizations.
It certainly sounds a lot better than anything going on in the U.S. or Europe right now. Of course, Canada doesn't have any monolithic "Law Enforcement" agencies like the FBI to impose their will on anyone. (CSIS is a little scary, but I don't they have any way to circumvent the privacy laws.)

Based on this article and the scientology flap, it seems like Canada is the best place to live right now. I've been in the States for about three years, but I'm thinking it's time to move back.

S'Okay, the original "To boldly go" is a grammatical error (danging modifier, I think, but IANAEM) that drives english majors crazy.
